You can say that again ! Mind you some on here are more concerned about looks and gender than competence of the government !

you think she is competent?

the lack of gratitude to good people doing an impossible job never ceases to amaze me. Good to see the vaccine being issued next week in America.

Thanks as always HP, and I'm not trying to create a downer on those stats because at the end of the day it's still dropping but the % positive is always at it's lowest on Thursday's and Friday's. Last 3 Friday's have been 5.5%, 5.7%, 4.8% and today's 4%, with the corresponding Saturday's then all showing rises until peak % positive rates on Monday's and Tuesdays. I don't know why that is, and I hope you don't mind me pointing it out...just suggesting that today's 4% might not mean too much compared with a Wednesday figure for example of 6.8%. If that makes any sense!
Not in the least. I very much appreciate you adding things you spot from local knowledge in Scotland. Half of my Great Grandparents moved to Lancashire from Scotland so I have roots there. But I have never lived there are really am happy you can add that nuance to the data.

So please never apologise for commenting or offering an opinion.

Which applies to everyone, too. As that is what a forum is about.

Wasn’t Liverpool’s case rate already falling (or at least plateauing) by the time they went into Tier 3?
I posted a comparative list of the two cities on here last night from August through to last week so you can see the exact numbers for both cities and how they shifted. Just compare that with the dates of the measures.

I live in Trafford and that's in tier 3
Cheshire's cases are higher yet they are in tier 2.
Am I missing something?

Only that GM is a community with movement cross borders very common day and night and whilst Trafford and Stockport very likely qualify for Tier 2 not 3 - possibly even Salford on current numbers - that is the problem with creating an oasis of lower measures surrounded by others who are not.

Wigan was not in the original GM restrictions and ended up paying a huge price as you cannot isolate one borough if those around it are on tighter restrictions. It just naturally exports the pandemic to there.

Trafford was offered immunity from the restrictions in August and chose to stay in them - wisely imo. Stockport briefly left but ended up having to return as numbers rose.

You only need to look at my nightly reports to see who gained and who lost now from that choice.

Stockport was the best performer in GM across the pandemic. But Trafford has overtaken it. And I think that decision to stay in the restrictions when they could have left is a large part of why.

They haven't got a clue Karen
Yes they have , dont be silly , you might not like it but that is your problem, a new virus has to be learnt about , it has behaved differently than other coronavirus , actual data takes time to come through , the scientist were shouting for another proper lockdown in september, they were ignored , we would be in a better place if they had their way

It's mind boggling, I wonder whether that's done intentionally.
Either way I think it's disgraceful the way the North has been treated.
