Every scenario I look at they’re damned if they do, damned if they don’t.

Introduce draconian measures now, such as banning flights and some airlines go under.

Not banning things and it spreads more.

Enforcing a lockdown now and it will massively slow it down but in several weeks the population will rebel and it’ll spread again and they’ve lost that leverage.

Speak totally honestly and they’ll send people into panic, hide the truth and people get angry they’re not being honest and it’ll cause people not to take the measures themselves.

The government really are in a shit position and I think any decision they take, in any aspect of this, will cause negative consequences.

I get annoyed because people are using it to point score.
spot on.

Can anyone explain the logic why they are keeping the name of the cabinet minister who's affected quiet? A journo last night pretty much said it's known who.

I assume a matter of privacy, but wouldn't anyone who came into contact with them recently want to know?

After watching the BBC & Sky news they seem to think as for certain sports getting called off and schools closing that's not what will happen in this cobra meeting. Johnson is sticking with what the science folk in this country is telling him, and it's none of the above.

Oh do fuck off and stop talking shite.

If you can’t see how others may find an article from 2018 interesting and on topic then do me a favour and block me so I don’t have to waste my time replying to your idiotic posts.

This is where the model is from, The Institute for Disease Modelling:

if you wish to post any peer reviewed simulations that shows a global pandemic with similar R0’s and fatality rates only killing 10,000 and sodding off after four months, then be my guest.

That’s the difference between my posts and your shit hypotheticals. My posts are based on the reality from experts in their field. They’re not my own pessimistic musings. Unlike your happy clappy, it’ll probably be ok when it warms up a bit, fact denying nonsense.

Well apparently the virus does have a low survival rate in heat and 26/27 is enough to kill it, so on that basis it'll be too warm for it to spread on about 2 days this year in the uk so we are all good.

so why's it spreading in hot country's ?

That’s good because I am absolutely not. From everything I have read, early intervention seems to work. Transparency re contingency plans could reassure but only if they are robust. We won’t have long to wait to see how this unfolds, please god all of us are still here to argue about it afterwards.

It definitely will work with an obedient general population but there’s a risk in the UK with doing it so early.

People travelling from affected areas and passing it directly to another. What the heat may do (along with the associated UV) is kill the virus quicker so it cannot exist for as long on surfaces where the temperature is at that level. Indoor areas will still be at risk of keeping the virus alive.
