Not a new strain apparantly - first seen in Brazil 8 months ago. Not particularly prevelant over there but wet and dank weather must supercharge it.

Tbf if france and mainland europe had this new strain I would hope we would be closing our entry ports to the place.


The point is to stop the spread, not facilitate it.

I doubt it is political or out of spite, all these countries have sufffered many deaths from normal covid, a sensible government would take all precautions agains this mutated strain of it or they would be failing in it's job.

Common sense to lock the borders and was obviously what we should have done in the first place. The government might now be regretting dramatising something they’ve known about for months rather than just admit they shouldn’t have promised everyone Christmas with their families a month ago.

the bulk buying of toilet paper is a strange one. It isn’t exactly essential and it happened again before lockdown 2. Which is a weird one because it never ran out the first time for longer than 3 days/ a week. Utterly bizarre, it must be one of them cases of mania that has gone on throughout history, like the dancing plague of 1518 lol.
