Incidentally the FTSE is off 60 points. Nothing. If there's any legitimate reason to be scared that would have collapsed. I find that odd to be honest because usually fear, even a hint of a problem, can provoke a mass sell-off.
The FTSE 100 is dominated by global companies and what happens in the States has a bigger impact than what’s going on in the U.K.

Really hope the supermarkets are quicker off the mark bringing in restrictions on bulk buying, no point telling everyone they can only have three packets of pasta or toilet roll when there is none left!

The media should be embarrassed, almost encouraging the selfish wankers.

The supermarkets would have bought large buffer stock of longer life foods in anticipation of a no deal brexit which will hopefully be used to keep shelves filled during this "blockade".

Hopefully restrictions on all items are in place to stop pondlife from bulk buying.

The media really are scum.

Anyone caught bulk buying bog rolls like last time should be aggressively called out.
Yes the media are total twats for encouraging it with the scaremongering headlines, but those cunta filling trollies and not giving a fuck about anyone else should be called out and banned from the store

It would be good to shame certain selfish segments of the public but I know people who bulk buy for charities, homeless shelters etc which would be harsh.

the bulk buying of toilet paper is a strange one. It isn’t exactly essential and it happened again before lockdown 2. Which is a weird one because it never ran out the first time for longer than 3 days/ a week. Utterly bizarre, it must be one of them cases of mania that has gone on throughout history, like the dancing plague of 1518 lol.

Looks like we’re the scabs of Europe mate, locked us out , good job we didn’t feel the same panic in 1949 .
Sorry for the rant and probably the wrong thread but .. blimey hour of need and they’ve gone .

Tbf if france and mainland europe had this new strain I would hope we would be closing our entry ports to the place.

The point is to stop the spread, not facilitate it.

And a super speading virus is completely different than a war against a massive set of nazi cunts and aiding europe while occupied by said nazis

The part you are missing out, and that thwarts your very simple (and effective plan) is that in under 10 days we will no longer be in the EU, or governed by their rules. This has all come at a very bad time and I think some of the European countries imposing bans, are doing so not just for health reasons, but also lots politician ones too.

I doubt it is political or out of spite, all these countries have sufffered many deaths from normal covid, a sensible government would take all precautions agains this mutated strain of it or they would be failing in it's job.

It probably hasn’t made any difference to the French actions but the fact we’re ten days away from no deal puts us in a perilous position. Utterly reckless, completely avoidable and somewhat predictable too.
Especially if it is true that we haven’t reached a deal because both sides won’t compromise on fishing. We’ve lost more jobs in retail in the last month than we employ in the whole of our fishing industry.

Ever since the democratic vote on Brexit, we as a nation should have been working overdrive to become self-sufficient. Yes that takes more than a few years but we’ve not even got off our drives. A few years ago I was giving out awards to healthcare science apprentices. They were great but it was very evident how under resourced these essential parts of the health and science sectors were.

Funnily enough I've just been to pick up our Asda click and collect order and it seemed relatively normal there too. On my way I was mentally preparing myself to witness carnage. I was expecting long queues out of the door and fist fights breaking out as people clambered over each other to grab the last of a dwindling number of turkeys but no, all calm and sensible.
