Was told about a batch of the Pfizer vaccine going to waste in Macclesfield due to it not being stored properly. This is a real game changer how it can be stored in a normal fridge!!! Definitely light at the end of the tunnel although gonna be a difficult few months ahead.
We need a covid bingo card.

So do we have an actual figure on how effective the Oxford one is? Is it still 62% since they’re doing two full doses.

How effective is the Oxford vaccine?

There are three figures doing the rounds - 62%, 70% and 90%.
The first analysis of the trial data showed 70% of people were protected from developing Covid-19 and nobody developed severe disease or needed hospital treatment.
The figure was just 62% when people were given two full doses of the jab and 90% when they were first given a half dose and then a full one.
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has approved two full doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine.
However, unpublished data suggests that leaving a longer gap between the first and second doses increases the overall effectiveness of the jab.
There was not enough clear data to approve the half-dose, full-dose idea.
All the vaccines are expected to be equally effective against the new variants of the virus that have emerged.

The guy from Oxford on tv earlier reckoned about 70% is the headline figure but said further detail would be published later today by the MHRA. My guess is that it’ll be up nearer the 90% once you’ve had the second jab after 12 weeks.

Anyone know if The Oxford vaccine is ok with people who have allergies? My other gran wasn’t able to have the pfizer one because of her allergy to penicillin. So hopefully the Oxford one will be ok?

Did you ask for Leighton only asking as also in MCHT area
No choice in the matter but I don't know if this is because I am care home staff and I was booking it literally as news was breaking about the Oxford vaccine which I presume will be more readily available from GP surgeries and other more local hubs.
