Just for some input from Europe, I live near Amsterdam and this week everything has changed. I haven't seen mass panic buying yet, I don't think Dutch people are prone to that as much as us English, but you can see people taking it upon themselves. I took my dog for a walk today, all the pubs that are usually busy I walked past are vitually empty. The restaurants have a handful of people in. I ( and many others ) have been told to work from home for now a minimum of one month. I have a few friends who've had the symptoms ( I also have ) and from what I can gather we've all isolated as best as we can. I go out only if I really need shopping and to walk my dog in a local wood. Take away services are only accepting online payment and leave your food at the door with no contact.
It really worries me reading on here that people back home are carrying on as normal. Luckily I talked my sister out of going out tonight, but I imagine it's normal service thoughout the country. My parents are both 75 and I am begging them to isolate, they have the ideal circumstances to do so butI don't know if they are being stubborn, or whether they are being influenced by the governemnts stance. They're almost carrying on as normal.
On a personal note I guess like many here I am at the age not considered vulnerable, but call me selfish I am worried about the isolation aspect. I need the gym for my mental ealth but realise its probably not wise now, and working from home for someone is social and needs interaction is going to get to me mentally, but there are a lot more serious things to think about other than that.
I think I need to take a break from twitter, this thread, the news for a while. It's making me really scared about what is happening and what is going to happen to loved ones. But people also think about your mental health here too. I am starting to dwell and think I need to step back from it a bit.
Take care everyone, and take precautions xx
