I thinks they are going to get it worst.
The metropolises will get it very badly. Out in the sticks hard
Trying to apply logic, I think the US healthcare system is wholly inadequate to deal with a widespread epidemic within its borders. Whilst ostensibly of a generally high standard, their system is too fragmented and disjointed and the historical absence of free healthcare at the point of delivery will provide a cultural obstacle that will be difficult (maybe even impossible) to overcome, even if such a limitation is temporarily lifted. They have (I suspect) the largest population on the planet with (largely self-inflicted) underlying health issues, principally centred around morbid obesity, which this disease will cut a swathe through, as well as their elderly who comprise a significant part of their population.

Think their numbers will be far worse than ours, as we seem to be running a co-ordinated policy around hospitals etc.

This will, in turn, give rise to significant public order issues, which present particular problems due to widespread gun ownership and the prevailing culture which encourages their use.

It could get very ugly indeed.
I think it could get very very ugly as this is very high up in the pentagon China-US war scenarios as a deliberate attempt by China to cripple the US economy.

3 people just walked past the house with Next bags....
Well the chances of them ever wearing their cheap fucking jeans and underwear will be a lot slimmer than had they stayed in the house. Dickheads.

I should point out that here in Spain lockdown means lockdown of the entire population. There are no people wandering around the streets, no people playing golf, no-one on the beaches. No take away food vendors or cafes. Nada.
It's the only way to do it. We got a phone call off a mate who was in a restaurant last night. The restaurant went under the banner of reverting to a takeaway. Our mate asked us to go down and join him as the owner of the restaurant was effectively acting as a pub and telling everyone to act like they've ordered food to take away. Gave our mate a right bollocking and told him to pass the message to the management.

ordered a pizza last night to help make our food last longer. The instructions when ordering was that they was to be no contact. We left instructions for them to ring the door bell and leaving the pizza on the door step as we can see thought the window. That's how it was delivered, he knocked on the door, we waved through the window and he gave us the thumps up.

We've had a breakfast order delivered this morning... the only thing I could think of doing for mothers day....they did similar

However I just couldn't enjoy it as all I could think as I ate it was who the hell has had their hands on this food whilst preparing and delivering it

C of E and Catholic churches are shut.

C of E churches are mainly live streaming their services each day at the moment.

Some churches are open today for people to go and sit on their own and pray, should they wish. All collective services are cancelled until further notice.

We have gone back to using a milkman and due our first delivery tomorrow. Two pints of milk and a loaf of bread. Guarantee it will be nicked off someone if we are not quick enough to get it

South Korea was the model all countries should have followed. Too late now.

South Korea had advantages that we and the rest of the West didnt.

They had the MERS outbreaks in 2018 and 2015, SARS in 2003 and were hit properly by Swine flu in 2009.

So they have infrastructure that other countries dont, but also they have a massive cultural difference that we just dont have in this country because it's our first big pandemic in living memory.

And it's that cultural difference that matters.

They also understand the value of coughing into a face mask, unlike us Brits who were advised not to bother, because we know best.
