I’m in the 0.2% range.

Seems pretty small odds. Having said that, if you offered me one of a bag of 500 wine gums and said that 1 of them was full of cyanide and would kill me, if still probably pass on having one.

Edit. Don’t forget the numbers above assume that ALL people that currently have Covid-19 survive.

Sounds like a party game.

1 week ago I said we'd hit 1,000 deaths per day within the next fortnight. Present trajectory has us hitting that on Monday.

Sadly, a lot sooner if the last 2 days' shocking figures were to continue.

Looking at the numbers map maybe they could split the country movements.

50-59 years old - 1.3%
40-49 years old - 0.4%
30-39 years old - 0.2%
20-29 years old - 0.2%
10-19 years old - 0.2%
0-9 years old - no fatalities

mortality rate a lot higher above 60
Yes the 6 wine gums, 1 of which will kill you if you are over 80, doesn't make for an appealing snack.

Amongst all the numbers are human beings,it is good to remember that

'We're here to work and to fight' - final words of Italian doctor who died on the front line

Of our new numbers

The patients were aged between 13 and 99.

Twenty of the patients - aged between 13 and 93 years old - had no known underlying health condition.

Didn't you say it was your 40th soon?

Latest UK figures in context

Wednesday's total number of deaths is 31% higher than yesterday.

It took 17 days for the number of fatalities in the UK to pass 200, and has taken a further 11 days to pass 2,000.

The number of people tested in the UK for coronavirus has passed 150,000 - the total by 9am on 1 April was 152,979.

Around 8,000 new people on average were tested a day in the seven days up to 1 April. In the previous seven days the daily average was around 5,800.

The total number of confirmed cases in the UK stands at 29,474, as of 9am on 1 April. A week ago, the total was 9,529.

(Only people in hospital are being tested,i think, not sure those getting tested privately are counted in the figures)

One of the great mysteries that I cannot fathom. In addition, why is our rail network not closed to anyone except NHS staff / absolute key workers (not my fucking window cleaner who came sauntering up the drive today and got given a chamois-sized fucking off)? There are 8 trains from Euston to Piccadilly this evening/tonight. Madness.

Its nuts. They were all cramming into trains this morning in London. I'm not sure why the army, who have lots of men and vehicles aren't being utilised to ferry goods and in certain cases people around, or loan vehicles to key people without transport who can drive to use them.
