The problem with the whole "let people have some leeway and they will be sensible" thing is that people continue to push the boundaries of that as time goes by and it is impossible to police. You constantly see people doing things they shouldn't and they will all find ways to rationalise it, but the reality is that the virus doesn't give a shit about your excuses. I get that people don't want to stay inside, but that's fucking irrelevant tbh
This needs more than one like. everyone has a role to play.

German car factories restarting production in 2 weeks.

US not prepared yet to name a date about re-starting but want to get the testing in place and the New York new infections right down before doing so.

UK has quietly increased testing to 16k per day which is getting there. Cambridge University is collaborating with AstraZeneca and GSK on a new lab to add extra testing capacity.

If The battle of runners , walkers and cycling on bluemoon is anything to go by we will be having full on civil riots and anarchy in a matter of weeks I reckon
Allotmenteers will take on the runners, walkers and cyclists any day.

Flat caps, old denim, hobnail boots and proper beer bellies > purple Lycra, overpriced trainers, trapped flab rolls and camel-toes.

The UK is now doing as much testing as South Korea.

I am certain that it is still well short of European counterparts and the USA but at least it is at levels which have been shown to be effective.

Korean data: https://www.cdc.go.kr/board/board.es?mid=a30402000000&bid=0030

They also have an FAQ on their methods which is useful.

I find it noteworthy that they can function at a level of testing that matches the UK. If the UK can reduce its infection levels down to Korean levels then the UK lockdown can be gradually lifted.

If anything South Korea has a much more difficult situation to manage because it is one of the densest populations on Earth so if they can function then so surely can the UK?

Under normal circumstance I will do quite a bit of running. At present I can't leave the house at all. But I have bought a skipping rope and hopefully next week I plan to get in my back yard every morning and do some skipping. Now there is just enough room to do it.

I understand what people are saying about getting out the house, plus physical and mental health. But and this is a big but, if you get this virus and die, your physical and mental health will not matter anymore. You might be the most considerate runner/cyclist/walker in the world, the problem is that you have no control over the actions of other people. You could end up with this virus through no fault of your own, it could be due the idiot behaviour of someone else.
Just stay at home. As others have mentioned, there are plenty of exercises you can do at home, you just have to be creative. Get one of them bike things with the online classes for the 2 week free trial and then send it back if you don't like it, buy a skipping rope or walk up and down your stairs for an hour a day.
I’ve also just bought a skipping rope.

And absolutely spot on with what you’re saying by the way. The number of people I saw out and about yesterday, and the amount of them I saw doing the wrong things, has now made me think I must stop leaving the flat now for anything apart from food.

It’s not like it’s a heatwave where we’re being told to stay indoors away from the Sun or we’ll get severe sunburn and heat stroke; this is a deadly virus that is killing people!

All the dog walkers out there why is it that the streets have shit on them again ?

When are we expecting an announcement regarding the lockdown extension
I’d expect something more formal to be said today, they’ve made it as bloody obvious as possible but some numpties always need it spelling out for them. As it’s a bank holiday tomorrow I’d have though this aft would be red hot favourite.

It was a runners gag:-)

great film, worth a watch for lockdown who doesn’t want to go out for a run.

This is so true. On my run I see so much more dog shit than before the lockdown, so before people start slagging off runners, maybe dog walkers are more deserving of peoples anger

Burglary is down obviously because no one is leaving home. Wait until building sites go back to work and warehouses. They will be the targets. It's not fucking rocket science. They reel these stats out, haven't they got better things to do

It's not fucking rocket science.

Funny you should say that. Went for a walk with Mrs N last night and we noticed dig dirt on the pavement. Never saw this before where I live. Pretty disgusting.
