Cheers! Just reading that. Admittedly I've never thought about anything like this before so I'm gonna presume I'd be hopelessly out of my depth...and I can presume you need to invest an awful lot of money (that I don't have) to see any return, plus be prepared to wait a long time, correct?

If this is your first time in the market, then I would personally suggest to sit on the sidelines unless you have a pot of money that you can sit on for some time without needing to access it for any unforeseen necessities and even more so in these times of uncertainty for future cash requirements due to the uncertainty of the economy/jobs.

Returns in the biotech sector can be significant as pricing is based on medical developments and announcements during clinical phase trials but there's a lot of stocks in that batch that have had 'hope of success' priced in already so any announcements of set backs normally sees a retrenchment back to previous levels which could be double digit percentage reversals. Trying to price any more traditional stocks now based on future earnings is a pointless exercise whilst the economic future is interlinked to government policy based on medical advice for potential further future lockdowns.

If you really have an urge I would suggest investing in a managed fund with market experts at the helm which also has the ability to 'short' the market as well as a way of not getting burnt if the markets take further fall which would should limit any downside.

Disagree, lots of governments worldwide need to start being pro active instead of reactive. If this whole thing is anything to go by, nothing will be done about the climate crises until it's the 11th hour of crunch time.
