COVID-19 — Coronavirus

Again we bring in new lockdown restrictions (for the North East) tonight at very short notice as it is 'urgent' but give a week's notice to go forth and multiply (the virus) because it presumably is more necessary to give people a chance to party pre restrictions on gatherings first.

I do not get this inconsistency in thinking that keeps happening.

This virus is not a game to be stage managed politically. Its a war that should be fought on an equal footing by all.

Lol,

You do know if you were living in North Korea you wouldn't have the internet to post this post and even if you did you would get killed for posting it?

you know what I mean though come on it's a bit of a joke now all this.

I agree, 95% of this country wouldn't know him if he was sat on their sofa, it's just a political comment.

The real issue is the lack of strong messaging about distancing from the government, and why we should do it, there is nothing about protecting the NHS, or the vulnerable either. Just don't do this in A, you can do this in B, groups of 6, or is it 3 households ? Even the messaging on face coverings isn't clear, you have to wear them on public transport, and in shops, but what about shopping centres ? Is it 1m or 2m distance ? supermarkets don't seem to know, and they were limiting those inside, they no longer seem to be doing that, because it hurts profit.

The messaging on testing is also a mess, people are requesting tests for next to nothing, so the ones who really might have it can't get tested, often because little jonny came home from school with a runny nose, as he probably has every September when the school holidays finished. People queeing at "walk in" test centres, but if you have symptoms you should actually isolate, not mingle in the streets in queues.

It's all a mess of messaging for me, somebody needs to sort that out, and we should have a "one nation one message" like we did at the start of this in late March, it doesn't have to be another lockdown, but somebody needs to get a grip and quickly, and enforce the messages.
Agreed that the messaging seems to have disappeared off the radar of most people because it isn't being rammed down their throats which they need. Even telling people to isolate if they have symptoms or waiting for a result is rarely mentioned and so doesn't happen. Even supposed intelligent people don't know what to do as they actually don't have the intelligence to Google what is needed to do. Makes me so mad!

I've been a long standing Tory supporter but their handling of this has been a joke at times.
More people are dying of the flu and other diseases.
They just need to fucking get on with it and stop all this draconian type action, its like living in North Korea and people are fed up.
It's a worldwide exercise in people control.
People need to rise up and protest about civil liberties being removed from us.

I live in the North East and the new lockdown rules are useless. You cannot socialise with anyone outside of your home. However, pubs & restaurants are open, albeit til 10pm only. My wife is personal tutor and can go to peoples homes as it is classed as work but cannot visit her mother. Need a full lockdown in my opinion although no one round here would adhere to it anyway

Wales data:

3 deaths - most in a while from here.

168 cases at 1.75%

Last week it was 0 deaths and 102 cases at 1/4%

Disagree - that was a pivotal moment and once that incident came to light people stopped caring and rightly so.

It was a pivotal moment because it presented an excellent excuse for selfish people to stop caring, the more balanced amongst us saw him for the **** he is and carried on

Those who want a full lockdown, just adhere to it yourselves and stay in your house. No risk then is there.
Yes that is foolproof as fuck. Genius.
Who on earth 'wants' another full lockdown? Nobody. All sensible people want is for the fuckwits who aren't taking it seriously and not respecting the rules to start doing so. Nobody should have to self impose any kind of restrictions because other people cant stick to the rules, put in place for the greater good.

N Ireland data:

0 deaths happily.

But 149 cases at 1.7% of tests.

Weekly average of cases has shot up to 689. The highest yet.

Of these 91 are in those aged over 60. About 13%

21 patients in hospital (same as yesterday).

But 3 now in icu ventilator beds (+!).

Last week these figures were

1 death, 78 cases at 1.0%, rolling average of 607 (89 aged over 60 & so over 14%), 13 patients and 2 in icu ventilator beds.
