All but non essential shops to close.
So does that mean building supplies will shut.
If so might as well close all construction sites ??.

Isn't there already a problem with supplies. Our builder can't get roof tiles, sick of sleeping in the rain.

Anyone thinking that Labour came up with the idea of a ‘circuit breaker’ are as thick as pig shit.
SAGE were the ones who offered this as a solution back in September.
The Tories decided to ignore it so Labour jumped on it as the panacea to the virus.
Had the Tories gone with it you can almost guarantee that Labour would have been against it like Burnham was when Manchester should have gone into Tier 3, ironically having argued for harsher measures in line with the Party for the weeks leading up to it.

party politics at it’s best

Opposite of political i would say , boris was wedded to no lockdown now he is doing what labour wanted three weeks ago , not a good look ,he will phrase it as a tier not a lockdown but it is a mahoosive u turn

it's globally political, Wales, Germany, France, Belgium have one so we have to have one.

De-dandruffing of jackets and gelling of the locks can never be rushed. In Shakespeare's Hamlet Polonius tells his son Lartes to dress well because "apparel oft proclaims the man" or as we say in modern day chit chat clothes maketh the man. God bless you Boris and take all the time you need lad, we'll still be here when you come out.

Of course they didnt come up with the idea , they followed what sage wanted but boris said no , they can claim a win if that is what they want to do , i would rather cross party co-operation but it is what it is

Quote me directly next time

How do we educate our kids during lockdown?
For clarity the school ages that are spreading the virus are ages 13+.
I just saw a teachers union representative saying one week in and one week learning from home by video link would dramatically reduce case numbers.
Even that isn't good enough to reduce the surge - to be absolutely blunt, senior schools have to close for 4 weeks.
They can only reopen as the union rep stated IF better hands/face/space takes place in school. As a teacher friend of mine tells me it is a nightmare as the kids just aren't following the rules.

Regions:

Patients //// Ventilators

LONDON P UP 8 to 840 (was 625 wk ago) //// V UP 7 to 131 (wk ago was 80)

MIDLANDS P UP 57 to 1802 (was 1213 wk ago) //// V UP 1 to 193 (wk ago was 142)

NE/YORKS P 84 yo 2256 (was 1595 wk ago) //// V UP 7 to 157 (wk ago was 112)

But the North West had a remarkably good day:

Patients DOWN 75 to 2500 (was 2130 wk ago) //// V DOWN 3 to 210 (190 wk ago)

Early days and GM is not yet really a big factor in this as it seems to be elsewhere in the region but a week where it looked certain that by now the NW would be above the number of patients it had in at peak in the first wave in April (this was 2890) - is actually little closer than it was at the start of the week.

As for Ventilators - the peak here in April was 350 but it has slowed right down. Being only 7 above where it was 5 days ago.

The NW has easily made the most progress this week of all the UK regions, several of which have caught up fast in numbers.
Tier 3 might have started to show signs of working after all
