Kids in school? The only reason kids are in school is to act as a crèche. What would be the problems in repeating the year? Serious question.
Really? My 6 year old comes home having learned something new every day. Her reading, writing and maths are coming on leaps and bounds. Could you tell me which other crèche provides this service?

Cant argue with you. Buses and particularly trains, seem pretty quiet here. My MIL uses buses daily and she says shes often the only one on the bus
And today on a trip from Easington to Hartlepool & then onto Durham I took just short of 100 passengers & I am only allowed 21 on at any one time. Really depressing & I find myself getting angry with them. Oh & this was 7 30am

We know deaths will rise for a while , it does seem the cases has plateaued though. Hope we get the drop off we are getting in Belgium, Holland Spain and France.

I hope so too, but rather strangely Scotland seemed to have plateued for weeks and now if anything is seeing a small rise. Tbh I don't know the ins and outs of what Belgium and Czechia did to get their cases to fall off a cliff edge, but that doesn't seem to have happened here unfortunately.

Don’t know, it’s that western central belt thats really stubborn. I guess Belgium had a harder lockdown, I know France did. Maybe 3 weeks of tier 4 will break the plateau in Glasgow areas on it. If that central belt falls Scottish figures will show that sort of fall we are seeing in europe and might be starting to see in England under tighter restrictions..

Regional scoreboard:

London - 2102 - up from 674.

Midlands 2693 - down from 3455

North East 1275 - down from 3365

Yorkshire 2540 - down from 3595.

Everywhere down except London which benefited from the student redistribution yesterday so was artificially low.

But the NW is the big winner 2446 - down massively from 4580. The reverse of the London situation plus continuing the recent falls.

As you can see the NW is the third biggest number today not the first as it has been so often since the Summer and at 344 ahead of London the closest it has been to here too.

The pandemic is shifting it would seem. IF these figures are serious given my post a few pages back where I give the test numbers that generated todays low score. That concerns me a little.

2446 is the lowest NW total in many weeks I should add. It is over 2 months since it was that low.

GM today also had its lowest numbers in some while at just 1211 - over 2600 down on yesterday but more credibly given what happened yesterday 288 lower than 48 hours ago with the last 'normal' number before the student redistribution yesterday.

The % of the NW though actually rose slightly to 49.5% as all the NW was down too.

Fingers crossed.

Wow , needs no comment

The UK has recorded another 598 coronavirus deaths and a further 20,051 cases in the latest 24-hour period.

It is the highest daily number of fatalities since 6 May.

And it brings the UK total to 52,745

why the ‘wow’ ? It’s pretty obvious with the amount testing positive a few weeks ago that we would be at this number, it’s tragic yes but not shocking at all.

GM scoreboard:

Manchester 230 - down a very very lot from yesterday's crazy 3174 via the add ons (should hope so!) and the lowest in GM for about 7 weeks. Total cases 28, 780. Weekly (meaningless as this is for next 6 days) 5132. Pop score up 42 to 5206 - down - obviously - from 574! Weekly Pop down 3 to 929 - still high but will fall over the coming week to much lower.

Wigan 163 - stays sub 200 but up from 90. Total cases 14, 943. Weekly 1415. Pop score up 50 to 4547. Weekly pop down 22 to 431. \

Oldham 141 - up from 124. But that means little today. Total cases 13, 436. Weekly 1393. Pop score up 60 to 5667. Highest in GM. Weekly Pop down 7 to 594.

Bolton 134 - up from 2. Total cases 13, 685. Weekly 1383. Pop score up 46 to 4759. Weekly Pop down 4 to 411.

Salford 121 - down from the student bloated 520, of course. Total cases 12, 379. Weekly 1610. Pop score up 47 to 4783. Weekly Pop down 14 to 623.

Stockport 104 - up from MINUS 68! Total cases 9560. Weekly 822. Pop score up 35 to 3258. Weekly Pop down 7 to 280.

Rochdale 102 - down from 124. Total cases 11, 295. Weekly 1153. Pop score up 45 to 5078. Weekly Pop down 17 to 518.

Bury 77 - up from MINUS 37. Total cases 8773. Weekly 780. Pop score up 40 to 4593. Weekly Pop down 30 to 408.

Trafford 75 - up from MINUS 206. Total cases 8089. Weekly 510. Easily the least in GM after the big cases cut. But still would be without it. Pop score up 32 but not the lowest today. To 3408. Caught up loads on Stockport in last 2 days and now just 150 behind and the race for best Pop Score is on. Which right now it looks like Trafford will win in the next few weeks as it is outperforming every borough and has been for a while. Weekly Pop down 26 to just 215. Lowest any GM borough has been in over 2 months, And now 65 ahread of Stockport as current lowest Pop in GM. But not the best today.......

Tameside 64 - down from 177 and the lowest number in GM for at least 2 months. Total cases 9555. Weekly 968. The fourth GM borough now with under 1000 cases in week. Another sign of numbers going in the right direction. Pop score up just 29 to 4219 - what used to be typical for many towns is the lowest 'normal' increase in GM for any borough in a day for many weeks. Weekly Pop down 25 to 426.

Every borough saw their pop score fall today. A rare event showing all numbers heading the right way this week.

It was also obvious the moment I posted the total before the England out of hospital numbers were added this afternoon. I expected it to even top 600 after that was already 410. It rises every single Tuesday and Wednesday to its highest level because of the weekend catch up from out of hospital sources and will be back down Thursday to Monday.

What matters is that the numbers seem to be slowing and are not rising as fast. Again the data today was encouraging in that regard.

Its a scary number and things could change easily and fast but the bulk of today's numbers are encouraging. Especially for the NW whose share of those deaths is falling.

Other numbers in UK today were back more or less normal. Though many down in keeping with the low case total today. Which was the lowest case numbers from England in 14 days.

14,000 and 13,000 new cases in France and Spain respectively announced today. Clear signs of a sizeable drop, good news. Death tolls still very high which unfortunately will be last to fall and are tragic but as far as the cases are concerned it maybe give more cause for optimism of things to come.

i cant get my head around why pandemics happen in waves? and why is this one predited to last 6/8 weeks? i have read that quite a few times now?

I don't know much about PCR testing TBH, but it's just the most obvious bollocks that 97% of positives are false, or that any significant proportion are down to historical RNA fragments. The profile over time of positives is totally incompatible with such a hypothesis. Not to mention that hospitalisations and deaths lag positives.

Why people post such patent nonsense is beyond me.
But this is obviously bollocks, otherwise positives would be simply and directly proportional to test rates.

Nice deflection. Your claim was bollocks, wasn't it
As usual you refuse to engage when called out on the misleading crap you continually pollute the thread with like this
So you post this stream of absolute shite and then you say that I refuse to engage and that I ‘continually pollute‘ the thread. In others I’d say it was irony but you? Probably not.

Before you go off on one, did you really think that I actually wrote that: “97% of positive tests are false?”

As I said earlier, I thought you’d probably read it and you’d probably misunderstood it.
