I don't know how to do links but it is someone called Statistics Guy Jon @ Jon_statistics

Would appreciate you checking if it is credible, thanks.

If its that statistics guy account on twitter some of his figures were used by the Daily Mail in one of their articles a week or so ago. They were very quickly found to be totally wrong but fitted the narrative of the story that they wanted.

In other words, take those figures with a great deal of salt.

Has the track and trace system been hacked!!???

My Mrs has received 15 messages with random names, alerting to self isolate.

All of them have come from the actual track and trace contact/number that we received when we actually had Covid.

The names are completely random... imran, Steven, Muhammad etc.

The messages look almost identical to the proper one but there’s additional links in the text, which we presume is what will sting you.

They only started coming through today.

Anyone else had th
There were reports the other day of people being contacted and asked for bank details to help them get a rebate or furlough payment from someone claiming to be administering this for the contact tracing ap. I think I posted about it here.

A hypothetical question - I live in Stockport which is in Tier 3 (despite having relatively low infection rates), but Poynton, a few miles away, is in Tier 2. Would I be breaking the rules by going to a restaurant in Poynton?
Rules where you live apply wherever you go. So you should only get takeaway.
But lets apply common sence, as such, so long as you're not meeting someone outside your family you are taking steps to be a good citizen.

I largely avoid Twitter so thank you for the heads up.

The messaging / call number can be hacked so be aware that they could be from hackers.

The trouble is that it looks legit so will sting a lot of unsuspecting people.

In any crisis there those that are selfless and those that act like scum.

I do wish our politicians would stop using Covid with all these terrible tragedies in a bragging competition against EU nations. This is not clever. It makes you look like a big headed idiot.

Why not just say - we have pioneered this but only because we had the opportunity and the world will soon have access too. It is great news for all.

Not yah boo sucks France We win na na na na na.

That will really help make Britain look like a decent place to live.

Probably, but who's going to check on you, the restaurant aren't going to turn you away, stick by the other rules and use common sense.

Yeah no doubt Oz and NZ have handled this well. But very difficult to compare those countries to Europe and the US where hundreds of millions of people live and are both huge international travel hubs.
I honestly thought the UK could've handled things much better being an island, international travel was never banned as it was here.
A UK friend holidayed in Kefalonia only a few weeks ago.
I was amazed when he told me he was overseas on holiday.
There didn't seem to be any enforcement of hotel quarantine on people arriving from overseas either.
Just get off the plane and go home.

Plus all those big statue BLM demo's cant have helped.

See from the European Centre for Disease Control and European Aviation Safety Agency:

  • In the current epidemiological situation, quarantine or systematic testing for SARS-CoV-2 of air travellers is not recommended.
  • In the current epidemiological situation, where SARS-CoV-2 is established in all EU/EEA countries and the UK, imported cases account for a very small proportion of all detected cases and are unlikely to significantly increase the rate of transmission.
  • The prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 in travellers is estimated likely to be lower than the prevalence in the general population or among contacts of confirmed cases.
  • Travellers should not be considered as a high-risk population, nor treated as contacts of COVID-19 cases, unless they had been in known contact with a confirmed positive case.
  • Travellers should be subject to the same regulations or recommendations as applied to the local population.
  • Member States should always admit their own nationals and EU citizens and their family members resident in their territory, and should facilitate swift transit through their territories.
This report is dated yesterday so you would assume uses the very latest data and science. Worrying about the virus spreading because of travellers seems a pointless exercise. Now where's my suncream?!?!?

Wales data:

They note btw that yet again there were testing issues meaning over the last two days 24 hours became 23 and 25 hours data. Forget which was which! Good to know our vital systems do not know how many hours are in a day.

Not that it made much difference as yet more big numbers from a beleaguered nation.

Deaths 21

Cases 1473 from 14.1 K tests.

Ahh well, it seems NZ and Oz have it wrong and UK has things right then.
Were all prisoners over here, again :)

Wales 3 wks v 2 wks v last wk v today

Deaths 34 v 23 v 28 v 24 today

Cases 857 v 1048 v 1251 v 1473 today - not exactly a rousing endorsement for the last lockdown here

Patients 1066 v 1143 v 1128 v 1171 today

Ventilated 59 v 62 v 66 v 70 today

The only nation with these last three numbers all going in the wrong direction.

I think they're trying to say the horse has already bolted so in our situation it's a pointless exercise - so not the same situation as Aus and NZ.

England hospital deaths good news. A significant fall on last week to 295 with just 52 from the NW.

For the first time I have noticed a London hospital reported the most deaths (Barking with 14). Nowhere in NW was in double figures and Liverpool had the most in the NW today.

England hospital deaths 3 wks v 2 wks v last wk v today - with NW deaths and % of NW in UK deaths:

317 / 90 NW / 29% v 346 / 89 NW / 26% v 351 / 81 NW / 23 % v 295 / 52 NW / 18 % today

An excellent downward track here in the NW percentage and 22 lower in total than 3 weeks ago on one of the higher days of the week usually.

Though you have to feel a little sad that we seem to have turned this corner just as a vaccine appears on the horizon and we decide to relax things for some large city regions and give everyone 5 days off from pretty much all restrictions in the next few weeks which may well tip us into a third wave in January just as the cavalry is coming.

I really hope that I am wrong and misjudging this possibility and the government have got this right.
