Covid and travel discussion

Villa in Portugal pushing for balance payment, absolutely not willing to shell out again with the risk of it changing. Might just go me and the other half if I can convince her its not going on the hotel quarantine.

I think you'll be ok.

They don't have enough hotel quarantine rooms to be throwing major European countries on the red list.
Hence France going 'amber +' last month....the capacity just wasn't there to shift it to red.

I think it would have to take something seriously major to happen Covid wise for that to happen.

Hows it been booked? Separately from the flights or as a package?

Ding ding ding.

(that was me mimicking a bell, and not calling a certain poster a ding!)

So.....anyone got any holidays booked?
Flying to Barcelona on Saturday for two weeks at our favourite resort, Pineda-de-Mar.

I’ve mentioned a couple of times on here that my daughter was planning to study in Madrid this year. Well, despite paying out nearly £800 to gather the paperwork, the Spanish Consulate in Manchester decided that they wanted another document in Spanish - not on any of their requirements - and because the university in Spain is out for a month, it’s basically a no-go. Similar stories of post-Brexit appointment/visa Armageddon abound on the Internet.

Anyway, her uni have agreed to allow her to progress to the final year so after the most stressful summer of my life, we can just relax and enjoy the holiday now.

Tui just downsized the plane for our Crete trip this month and moved the flight later in the day, so we get to the hotel at 1am now rather than 11am. Also means we get back home 3am in morning rather than 1am. Urgh. Usually avoid the late flights as we have young kids but thought we'd trail it this year and see how it goes. At least the temp will be cooler - didn't fancy being in the Crete airport in 36c heat.
