COVID Watch

Fucking Noddy in his post match interview.. basically saying COVID issues shouldn’t stop football from being played and having more than a sly dig at us and saying they have it under control.

let me tell you now you little wrinkly teenager.. no one has this under control.. in the world. Anywhere. Arrogant dickhead.

All these managers and pundits will look stupid when the league gets postponed in the next few weeks. IMO it will 100% happen. We are fucked until March.
Thats only because they are 2nd, totally different response from noddy if they are mid table. Look at Allardyce, just got battered 5-0 at home and he wants a two week lock down.
I still maintain that Everton's cocky response was because they are near the top, if they was bottom 6 it's a totally different reply in my opinion.
But yeah noddy always gets a bit giddy with his response if they sneak a win.

Quite frankly as a retired Doctor who has been involved in football, Gillingham and Maidstone United club Doctor, I was so surprised that the team stayed in a hotel in London. It beggars belief that this was allowed. How stupid can one get. OK you have to think about fitness and recuperation, but surely players, coaches, staff welfare comes first.Especially when you have resources like private aircraft on tap.

I am staggered that certain teams have been allowed to have fans, Scousers for eaxmple. Literally a few weeks ago they had the highest rates of Covid. Not only is it an unfair advantage for the team to have fans, but medically, makes no sense. Have a sharp lockdown, things get better remove the lockdown, and in no time you get a rebound. The only way this will get better is for immunisation to be rolled out or herd immunity and that is usually 80% of any population. I was in hospital as a patient today and spoke to an ex colleague, a consultant who has still not been immunised. Nurses in out patients are apparently low risk so have not had the jabs either. This was in East Grinstead, one of the greatest hospitals for plastic surgery worldwide. For those of historic interest, it is where the WW2 pilots had pioneering surgery.

The quandary for me is how important is football. Its not just football but the arts in general.Does watching football improve the mental welfare of the nation ? I would argue it does for a significant proportion of the population, even on TV. Let us not understimate the mental component in illness. If we dont do the things we love, we become low and that affects our immune systems.

Sadly we face a question of risk now. Do I feel sorry for footballers who get Covid? Of course I do , but no less than the nurses, doctors and health care workers who work for a pittance in comparison at much greater risk. I feel we have reached the point that we were last year. Close it all down until herd immunity and immunisations take hold. But if it does continue, I find it hard to feel more sorry for people earning 150k plus a week compared to the vast majority of the population. And please believe me, having worked with footballers, many are very thoughtless, and that is polite.

Best Wishes to you all.
Brilliant post.

Think by January all games will be off . 53000 cases today which is the highest ever and it is now out of control and we need a total lockdown . I love my Manchester City but I love my life and family more and if total lockdown means keeping us all safe then let’s get it done .
Just come from the docs for my flu jab. In Spain but same stands. They were very clear. Get home. Lock yourself down. Don’t take any unnecessary risks. Tell people around you.
“This is out of control and we’ve not even added the Christmas contacts yet”.

Playing fucking football my arse. Grubby money grab is all it is.
Stay safe everyone

With regard to the Everton match postponement (COVID reasons), apparently they, as a club, feel disrespected for not being privy to the Premier League decision making process.
FFS, what would they be able to do about it?. They seem to have developed ideas above their station in the grand scheme of things.
Poor, poor misguided lambs....

they had 2000 fans at the game, maybe notifying them the game was possibly cancelled earlier in the day would of been reasonable. Not City's fault though, city asked for the cancellation in the morning after test results and assumed the PL would notify Everton of the events taking place. I'm no Everton lover but they should of been kept informed of what was happening from the moment cancellation looked a possibility.

Ancelotti’s press conference at 1:30. Im sure the media tossers will be demanding he sends his best wishes to City’s players and apologises for the club’s snarky statement.
Or maybe not
He comes across as having a bit more class than your average scouser.. so I'd be disappointed in him if he didn't do this without being prompted... pretty sure Pep would if the tables were turned

As posted above, they wouldn't get back to CFA till 3am, with onward travel thereafter, that's with no diversions due to roadworks (I've done that journey the other way regularly, and the latest I got home was about 5:30am, after multiple diversions).

Can't see the club doing that, but it's little wonder it spread if someone on an air conditioned coach was infected.

ok my trip is passed london down to margate but my lad and me did a champions league match in a day and got back in margate just before 6am ! never again ;)
