Creative Midfielder

Obviously if there was a chance with Alonso you'd have to take it.

I'd class him as more of a DM but with the eye for a pass. I think we are stocked in this dept anyway with Ireland Rob SWP and Elano who are all creative.

Alonso is a creative midfielder. His passing ability is so good that he can be that player from a deeper lying position.

What about Scouse target Javi Martinez ....... offer him 30,000 a week more than Bin dippers

Really piss off the doorman at Phoenix Nights

Top player but he's more of a midfield general. Vieira-esque

According to the Mail we are still looking to sign a creative midfielder ........ who would you like at the sweet shop ?

Thank fuck! I've been trying to get my posts up again (following the big post decimation, and the fifty post rule), just so I could start such a thread!

We've got Elano to back up Ireland, Barry's ok, then all our midfielders are pretty defensively-minded. And Elano's probably gone, more's the pity.

And we haven't discussed this position at all, it's all been centrebacks and strikers!

I'd like... Alexander Hleb. Sneijder or Van der Vaart would also be super. oh, and Zinedine Zidane.

A creative midfielder for me would have more assists and goals because he would tend to be in the final third a bit more. I'm not saying Alonso cannot create because he can, his passing is amongst the best, but he plays a little too deep for me. Maybe thats just his role at the dippers and if pushed forward a bit more his assist record would be better.

Arteta is a good shout but only as second fiddle to Ireland

On his way me thinks ........ will need a back up for Ireland

Elano on his way? People were saying that a few weeks ago but haven't heard it lately. Wouldn't surprise me if he wants to stay. Hope we keep him, personally.

We already create loads from midfield. Robinho played RM last season.

We need 3 defenders (2 centre halves and a left back)

One final striker would be the cherry on the cake.

Looks like Terry, Lescott and one other defensively.

Adebayor is the last striker.

Then it's time for a clear out of 9 or 10 of our squad.

Arteta's a great shout, on account of the fact that he'd come with the Goodison work ethic pre-installed. Anyone in the middle three can't afford to be carried, which is inarguably why Elano wasn't being started.

Alonso's wonderful, but would have to contest that 'neutral' role (neither as destructive as De Jong nor as attacking as young Stephen) with Barry.

Actually, I wouldn't mind a burster - your Lampard/Gerrard type, arriving late with accurate shooting - or a Ballack/Cahill-style character (also arriving late, but more about the heading). We've nothing like that at the mo.
