You talk far too much sense on here :-)
Test Cricket should be the pinnacle for all so make the remuneration impossible to resist.
For a start how about giving Test Cricket free to air status again.
Less and less kids are playing now and amateur teams are dying in their thousands.

good shout matey

test cricket should be on free to air tv so kids can start to see and understand the game and want to take up cricket

for those, like me, going to OT this weekend, there is a match on at the swamp at 3pm Saturday and it's going to play merry hell with parking, in fact i dont think there's any test parking available? if you have to drive, plan ahead!

None of my cricketing friends call Test cricket "long-winded and boring". Many of the recent series in England have been gripping, in a way that knockabout stuff can never be.

This is the highest form of the game, and it's a pity that followers have had to put up with potted versions of the game, mainly because the mass of people haven't been encouraged to appreciate the virtues of the real stuff.

So much of cricket's magic and tradition and meaning have been swept aside in the grubby search for money.
No I agree, I was using the generic description oft used by those who don't understand the nuances of test cricket.

I hear your point about the potted versions and I think they do need to get test cricket and even County Championship games back on terrestrial. It's just so difficult to fit it all in and with county games, the talent is too spread out and decimated by call ups, it would need a revamp (maybe as low as a 6 team top division) so it's going to chip away further at that tradition you talk about.

Be better if the likes of channel 4 itv or the bbc has full rights to test cricket

Channel 4 bought the rights to the winter tests in India this year and got 13 of the 20 days cricket they would have expected.

It's just not really feasible for a normal TV channel to host cricket. Sky have the rights to so much they can plug any gaps seamlessly with County or foreign T20 or just some of the hundreds of small cricket documentaries they make for the lunch breaks or retrospectives on famous series.

Joint partnerships like the Hundred or the old Formula 1 deal are the best we can hope for IMO.

Waiting for the "six" to be announced for the attention deficit numpties - improve technique even more.
Each side will have a masked swinger, unveiled to chants of “Take it off”.

Fours and Sixes will be replaced with Fives and Tens.

The crowds can win prizes if batsmen hit the inflatable targets suspended over the boundary rope.

Oh and the ball will be made of cheese.
