Agree with that. This tour was always going to result in defeat, the only question was over its margin. I’d suggest using the remainder of this tour to decide who stays in the Test squad and whose time is up. I also think it’s time to thank Anderson and Broad for their service and rebuild the bowling unit. That might be painful for them but arguablly needs to happen. The tour to the West Indies should be a new beginning, with maybe a new captain as well. There’s some good talent in that squad. Bar Foakes putting any of them into the Ashes squad could be very harmful to their development.
Having said that if they are good enough ?

Problem is, there is no one remotely ready to step up.Agree with that. This tour was always going to result in defeat, the only question was over its margin. I think the tour to the West Indies and the visit of New Zealand should be used as building series with an eye to the visit of South Africa and then next winter. Write off those first two series and build a young team that grows for the next Ashes.Problem is, there is no one remotely ready to step up.
Don’t disagree. We’d probably lose both series anyway.I think the tour to the West Indies and the visit of New Zealand should be used as building series with an eye to the visit of South Africa and then next winter.
