Yeah, his batting record is utterly shit. Captaincy really took its toll on him.

He bats in exactly the same way, whatever the situation.

You just don't let it go, hahaha

root was never in my book a captain of England type of person, he was just a puppet for the ECB to use and pull the strings, root was more of one of the lads and a team player and not a cold-hearted single person that you feared,

I never question his batting and how could you, root was head and shoulders above the rest in the squad and ranked with the best in the world, it's just being captain that did not work for him or England

Just watching the highlights on bbc how most of our players get out is there defence is poor and choosing the right balls to attack! Unless the likes of Pope Crawley and Bairstow we ain’t getting big runs.

spot on
the lack of technique and movement is shocking, it's like school boys stuff, at times
Pope Crawley Bairstow have had so many chances and still doing the same shit, why keep picking them

Seriously you think anyone else would have done a better job?

This is the bit he is blind to. He thinks Root is terrible as a captain. (Even though he’s won more tests as captain than any previous captain).

Whilst Root wasn’t a trailblazing captain, he did a solid job with the players he had at his disposal.

Just like Stokes will do, before burning out in August.

Then do we go back to Root, or pick someone without a guaranteed spot in the side?

Well, it did perfectly until we ran out of batsmen able to bat and all our bowlers got injured.

Are you Stokes out yet?

I think 20/20 has had a detrimental effect on Test Cricket. I love the short form of the game but digging in for a long stint at the crease is now long gone for most players. I think we have to be realistic and shorten Test Cricket to 4 days and not get hung up on the Captain’s performance. Root has done a decent job, it’s a changing game, I absolutely agree with you, Stokes won’t last long, great player but not a Test Match Cricket Captain IMHO.
