Just looking back at day 4, and the first session of day 5 is very interesting. Basically, NZ's second innings. They must be utterly shell shocked this morning.
They were 100-1 deep into day 4. They start playing some silly shots — and by the way, England's catching is for once absolutely spot on — but basically it looks as though they're going for the win. Credit to them for it. In any case, it looked like a no-risk situation, and they must have thought that at the very least they'd come out with a draw, and live to fight the third test to level the series. No way on God's earth could they have envisaged what was going to happen after tea.
They must hardly be able to believe that they've lost the series.

NZ were a bit light in the bowling department to be fair. Outside of this I am enjoying the positivity coming from the England camp , this coupled with some top county cricket games at the moment.
Older lady behind me at Trent Bridge spent the entire day following Leics v Notts in the County Championship, giving almost ball-by-ball commentary to her husband while Bairstow and Stokes were whacking sixes !

Lancs in for a tough time today by the looks. At least Hampshire fighting back well v the Yorkists.

Started watching this yesterday with Warks 98 for 5. Wondered how many they would let the last 5 wickets plunder. Didn't let me down, 239. No 9 batsman 55, No 10, 36 not out. Fed up of seeing this familiar scenario unfold over the years. Vilas run out now, backing up. Staring down the barrel now.

Vilas was run out unluckily at the non strikers end via a deflection off the bowler.

Yeah, I'm currently watching it on Youtube. Definitely looked too close to call. How can they make the County Championship pay, when they stream the games via Youtube? I know the crowds are traditionally sparse, but streaming them makes no sense.

I agree it’s chronic how many times Lancs have whipped out the top/middle order in the County and end up in this current state .

The worst game I can remember for this, was a Nat West game in 1992. Lancs totalled 318/8, and had Essex 8 down for 228 needing 91. No surprise they made it with 1 ball to spare. Still rankles to this day.

I think it is just the new ball, in the CC and those days in the 60 over game.

Lancashire staying in it today just, but in 21 overs and 2nd new ball there will be a tough final hour.
