I'd be more than happy for Root and Foakes to just block everything that needs blocking, and leave everything that needs leaving, for three or four overs, conceding maidens. Maybe taking the odd one or couple here and there. Just checking out how the ball's behaving. Batsmen often come out in the morning slightly less concentrated from the night before, I've noticed. They need to get into the groove.
We have all the time in the world.

Yep they have plenty of time the worry probably for root is the new ball if they don’t get the runs before it.

They could do with getting 30 or so runs before the new ball, preferably without losing a wicket. Take some of the pressure off the tail end.

Just watching Jamieson being interviewed. Christ, he's a big unit. Unless Mel Jones is seriously short!

6' 8" apparently. I think that definitely falls into the 'big unit' range.

Looks like weather for the ball to hoop around corners!? Hopefully it’s to cold for that.

New Zealand favourites today for me.

46 to win, 5 wickets left, flat pitch, Joe root in and well in.

Even with the new ball surely England cannot cock this up? Surely!

If this was anyone other than England I’d be confident. As it is, still worried what happens if we lose Root with more than 20 to chase
