They're just so SO bad.

Today was humbling because they made it clear they wanted to bat for time and couldn't, at least before today they had the pretense of it being caused by Bazball.

THe bowling is not getting nearly enough attention, they're really not bowling well at all.

A lot of heads have to roll here.

I don’t think it could have gone much worse.

3 years trusting shite batsmen because they can play a certain way and can score runs in Australia.. only to get out there and play so poorly they try and change the way they play.

No proper warm up matches.

Approaching a bowing coach last minute (Steyn) only to then be turned down. Then rock up with an attack with no overs under their belt and to lose Wood after bowing about 10 overs.

Going ahead with a mid tour mini holiday after embarrassing yourselves in the first 2 games, which then meant they were surrounded by press, all because you decide to blindly stick to your guns.

All while giving off smug messaging in the press about this being the way they do things and they don’t give a shit what people think.

McCullum, Stokes, Crawley, Pope, Smith, Jacks, Carse all have to go.

Sad state of English cricket. May be worth reducing the away ashes series to 4 tests to at least let Melbourne have a chance of hosting a game with the series still on the line.

Jimmy Anderson at 43 years and counting could do a better job than this lot.

When your second top scorer (ok third) is a bowler, it tells you all you need to know, for all the great words, they're pretty useless, fair play to anyone giving up sleep to watch it.

Archer and Wood are a problem because of their injury records, but then they’re so obsessed with pace they keep getting chances. Archer is a tough one as he is good, but his pace always drops off drastically in test matches.

I’d seen they were scrambling around for a bowling coach prior to the series. Just shows how shit their prep has been.

Rob Key has a lot to answer for, but he appears to just be insufferably smug whenever he speaks about anything.

The honeymoon period is over at last it’s was a 3 year one where we seen batters fail after fail and don’t get me started on the bowling! We would have been better saying we ain’t preparing for the ashes we going to pick the best consistent bowlers and batters who can bat all day!

He did waft at 4 previous deliveries it was a matter of time.

If you watched today you’d have seen that none of them went out to “bazball” shots.

herein lies the problem

You can not change the way you play mid-series, Also Aussie spinner Lyons takes wickets and Stokes leaves out Bashir

We don’t have enough batsmen that have mentality to bat long. We’ve only really got Root that can pace an innings.

The others just try to hit every ball. Not always for 6, but we need to relearn the ability to leave the ball.

Ben Stokes and Brendon Mccullum have to walk and most of the players

It's Crazy to think you have put all your eggs into one basket (Bazball) for 3 years, then now it's wrong and you want to change it mid-series. Well done to the Aussies on winning the Ashes in under 10 days of cricket.

Come Home
Not disagreeing but if Stokes steps down look who the new captain would be!

We’ve been here before, ancoats!

Who’s your next captain? Back to Root? ;-)

I like Stokes, but this whole thing with Bazball and cheap talk about firing up the players, then they collapse again
Stokes has got everything so wrong in this Ashes Series, leaving Bashir out in this test when the Aussies Lyons' takes wickets and it's turning on day 2

We need a big shake-up after this and get back to basics. We need to have a balanced side with a spinner for a start
get rid of the coaches and then the new setup can choose to stick with or without Stokes. I have a feeling Stokes will quit test cricket after the Ashes and Brook will be named captain

As I said, Bazball cricket has killed our test cricket players, also, the system has to change and central contracts need to be changes and allow anybody from county that is in form to come straight in

The baby shouldn't be thrown out with the bathwater. There's been a lot of positives about the last 3 years, they just need to advance the ideas a lot more.

I think their biggest problem is PR/communication. Not just Stokes saying stupid things he has to apologise for later like the has beens comment, but treating the media and fans like they're the enemy and not the team's biggest supporters needs to change.

Time and time again they communicate poorly, get accused of arrogance because of the way they do it, and then 3/4 days later the full story emerges. Canberra day/night is a classic example. If they'd come out and said the climate is so different to Brisbane we don't think it's useful preparation, training at the Gabba will be better etc. then everyone would have understood even if they disagreed. Coming out and just saying "No." and "I've already answered that" when people ask about it is asking for people to brand you arrogant.

Rob Key should go, he's not improved anything, people seem to think there's no accountability in the team or ECB so if there's going to be a sacrificial goat it should be him.

Lastly they just need to break up the favourites clique. Pope has to go, he's had too many chances. I still think Crawley is worth keeping around because we have no one else, but give him a break and let someone else try and then bring him back if he's scoring well in county.

Brook just needs to grow up a bit, this series might do that.

The bowling situation is more fucked but the tactics they're using are so bad that it's hard to really judge.

Realistically can't drop Stokes because he's the best bowler and maybe 3rd best batsman so McCullum will have to leave, but I hope they replace him with someone who has a lot of the same ideas.

Yeah unless I’m mistaken Rob Key is a big driver behind selecting players based on looking at them and seeing whether they “have it” or not.

It’s something he used to bang on about on Sky and is different to the old school just pick the highest run scorers/wicket takers in county cricket.

Crawley and Pope are 2 players who in any other era would’ve been dropped long ago. So the experiment of letting someone just keep playing because in theory they “have it” has failed.

McCullum has to go. Stokes has to lose the captaincy. I’d actually give it to Brook in the hope it tunes him in mentally. Hard to hide behind “it’s how I play” when you have to speak to the press/public after each days play.

The bowling is a mess because our best attack is never fit. We also have a problem with a good spinner.

It’s a mess because despite all that, like you say, it’s hard to see who they can bring in because county cricket is so poor.

First thing
If you're playing Bazball for 3 years, how can you just say stop in mid-series

Second thing
The bowling has been shocking and lazy ? With 2 wickets to get in the morning, Archer and Carse bowled lolly pops and they scored 50 runs. Archer looked fucked from ball one today

Everything stinks with this tour. The players are having a bubble and having laugh. There is no pressure to perform knowing you're playing every game because who's taking your place ?

Bashir wants to say fuck off if you're picking me for the 4th and 5th tests, I'm out injured
