Duckett on being asked the question: "Frustrated at seeing three of you go similarly in quick succession?:"

"I'm not sure how to answer that, I'm surprised about the question. We've played positive cricket for 12 months and we're certainly not going to change. If we get close or a lead, we're certainly in this game."

There’s nothing actually positive about trying to slog pull/hook a load of short balls when Australia have set up to catch you off the pull/hook.

They played really positively before Lyon went off, when they were scoring 5 an over just building their innings.

The more I hear England players talk about Bazball the less I believe in it.

It was supposed to be modern players playing their natural, T20 influenced games without feeling bullied into playing old fashioned test cricket.

But we seem to have ended up with players thinking that taking stupid shots on at every possible moment is positive, or premeditating reverse sweeps for shock value or declaring early just because it’s traditionally the wrong thing to do.

It’s the definition of throwing the baby out with the bath water.

Michael Vaughan is a miserable Yorkshire ****. It's like the old guard ( him) cannot accept the new way England play. Yes it is risky and yes it cost a few wickets today but plenty of runs were added in the process and the team are now in a solid position to go after the Aussies. I hope they make this twat eat his words.

Woah there, plenty of runs weren't added when they were dicking about with the bouncers. They just needed to see out the spell - it isn't a criticism of their overall approach, they can just play the opportunity. Root, especially, is better than what he did and didn't play with his head. Stokes is the biggest proponent of the aggressive approach and he still read the situation.

Except when boundaries are scored. I like the approach. It has worked up until now. I suspect it will continue to do so. I fancy the Aussies will get the run around tomorrow.

Stokes pretty much always has a settling in spell. Let's see how it pans out tomorrow. The game has not been lost and the criticism is too early for me. Plus, Vaughan is a c..t

I think the England players are so programmed that they just repeat the same answer to any question:

'What did you make of the weather out there?'

"We've been playing positive cricket for 12 months now and we're certainly not going to change because of the weather."

There are 2 ways of looking at England’s approach. Duckett being interviewed came over as very stubborn/arrogant, trotting the party line of how I/we play. However maybe England actually get higher scores this way - certainly the pre Bazball England (that used to play like frightened rabbits pushing nervously for singles and letting bowlers get on top of them) used to get lower scores so maybe we have to accept we get better scores playing this way? Maybe not Joe Root though??

Quite like Jim and it's pleasing to hear other perspectives and commentators who know something about the opponent.

He used to be fine but to me comes across badly at the moment maybe he just hates “bazball” whereas Glen McGrath is a very open, honest listen.

I like Jim too. I like his commentary style and the way he says Khawaaaja and Baaazball not to mention his shipping forecast intros.
I suppose the point is when they're on top any Aussie voice becomes irritating.

I think a lot of Australians were rather peeved listening to the English commentators, particularly Vaughan, going on incessantly about 'Bazball' at Edgbaston and how Australia were in for a big surprise. That was a bit disrespectful to the number one side in the world and Maxwell took umbrage.

Vaughan ask the wrong question he should of asked him you saw how your captain played when he came in not hooking every ball not taking risks but he wants you to play a shot on 98 that % isn’t in your favour!?
