I can’t understand professional sportsmen/women being overweight. There's no excuse for it, really. That Patel fella who's playing for Notts is a big old unit. Same for some of the umpires in the women's game. It doesn't reflect well on the individuals.
Didn’t do this guy any harm…

Why can’t someone be overweight? Its how they play the game and Patel has been a stalwart for Notts for years.

Not been a great week for cricket. Just back from Lancs v Surrey, Lancs well beaten. I thought Surrey batted, bowled and fielded better than Lancs and were so much better captained (Jordan v Livingstone). Better field placings, turned a lot more 1’s into 2’s, and Salt, Buttler and Livingstone all threw their wickets away at the wrong time. All 4 southern teams in the quarter finals got through. Damn shame. Watching Alex Davies captain Birmingham last night v Liam Livingstone tonight was the cricketing equivalent of Pep v Gareth Taylor

Glenn Chappell is the cricket equivalent of Southgate.
A great squad with a bang average coach/manager in charge.
Proper cheap option for Lancs. Wish they'd get someone decent

You do know Lancs beat Surrey in the county championship last week.

The IPL lads have been a disappointment since their return.

That was a completely different game. The bowlers were amazing second innings from memory, also from memory Livingstone and Buttler weren’t playing in that. I just thought Lancs were really poor tonight - sloppy in the field, average bowling, poor field placings gs a relatively disengaged captain and the superstar batsmen threw their wickets away at the wrong time. Different opinions I guess. The only good phase was reigning them in from what looked like well over 200

We need at least two more, they're a hundred ahead as it is. Their last five wickets could (repeat for the hard of hearing; could, not will) add 150-200 runs. If we're chasing anything above 250, I wouldn't fancy us to do it.
It’ll be a day 3 pitch (rather than a day 4 or 5 pitch which one would normally expect batting 4th) and should be great for batting still. Not that it makes a huge amount of difference if we throw our wickets away. England would back themselves for anything less than 300.

That’s the third time my wife has walked in the room and talked to me and we’ve taken a wicket while she’s been speaking.

I asked her to get out of the room and walk back in when Marsh faces his first ball.

Now she’s annoyed that I’m not listening and she’s fucked off to the shops!
Win win.

That Patel fellow is a stalwart in of T20 game and still in demand in leagues around the world. Overweight people have the right to love and play the game, if their fithess is the issue then it's upto the concerned management to take action.

On a sidenote, what frustrates me is how up and coming fast bowlers like Robinson (not picking on him, there is wider trend) who break into international cricket with good pace and in couple of years their pace drops considerably while senior citizens of the game like Broad and Anderson give their all despite their age and time spent in the game

Couldn’t agree more.

This morning session's the one, isn't it? If they settle in and knock up another hundred, they take the game away from us again. On the other hand, if we get another couple of wickets…
I think we'll know by lunchtime which way this game, and this series, is going.

Not much excuse for anyone overweight unless due to illness/hereditary.

Most people have become lazy fat bastards who eat rubbish and won't stop and exercise.

Yep.

Same as the last Test where England were 278-4 at stumps on day 2 chasing Australia's 416. They should've come close to par with the Aussies on day 3 but lost 6 wickets for less than 50 runs and that was just too much to turn around.

Yep, I’m shitting it.

I would feel a lot better if I had faith in our very talented batsmen were ready to show their talent.

We should be able to knock out 350-400 on this pitch on Day 3-4 but we’d need to respect the opposition and situation, of which I’m not confident.
