Not really, had he declared without the Bairstow/Anderson partnership, they'd already have a lead, making any possible chase tomorrow longer.

Can't see any play tomorrow sadly, latest forecast, second line down (below temperature) is rainfall in mm per 3 hours.

The flip side is the Aussies could be 7/8 down by now had he declared 50 runs earlier. It’s just ifs and but’s though.
I understand him wanting to put more on the Aussies but we have to bowl them out twice and I hoped he might have been a bit more daring.
As I intimated it’s immaterial now

The graphic I posted above yours is straight from the very latest Met Office model run (2 hours old), and some of the rainfall overnight is pretty substantial.

If it's right, there's no chance of any play imho.
2/9 the draw 3/1 England paddy power
Odds says it all really

Given that there was no chance of any play today and on Friday morning they said they'd be lucky to get a full day in I'm remaining optimistic that there will be play tomorrow. Whether there will be enough and whethet we take the opportunity is another question.

Yeah but this time last night, it was looking like a window this afternoon, today it isn't, fair to be optimistic, but as @Indaparkside the bookies are quite clear.

I bet "winviz" right now is about 98% draw, 2% Enland win.

Sadly the ashes were lost in the first 2 tests, We all knew they are a good side (world champions) So giving them a 2.0 lead was a bad idea, Also everybody knew the weather would come into play at some point and with the Manchester test being so important you knew it would rain, The call for Wood and Woakes was far too late for me and Woakes and Wood should have played at Lords.

They retain the Ashes and are worthy of it for me, because of England's Bad choice and then the pressure to bowl Jimmy Anderson even when clearly his time was up long before the Manchester test, Big questions should be asked about the first 2 tests even Moeen Ali recall and then not picking your best 2 bowlers until it was too late.

And please don't call me out because it's still not over in the 4th test or we can level the series in the next test
England should have been ready from day one, forget sentimental reasons for playing Jimmy Anderson and Moeen Ali,
We the fans want to win the ASHES back not see Jimmy and Moeen bowling crap,

Watching the highlights show, and apart from being subjected to Vaughan droning on because he likes the sound of his own voice and wants to subject others to it, so far he's referred to the off-side as "the safe side" and the on-side as "the safe side".
He's just talking tripe.

It's hard to see Australia granting anyone equivalent to Anderson a last hurrah. They'd have replaced them without sentiment.
Ali seems a victim more of lack of planning and continuity; I think it's harsh to pin blame on him for being picked.

Its gone, cheating crooks have been handed it cos of our shit west of the pennines micro weather system.

Need at least a couple more tonight, tomorrow isn't looking great.
Today was not looking great

England have been the better side throughout. Australia don't deserve to be leading.

Thats the point. Winviz and bookies odds will weigh up the forecasts. The last 2 days we've had a lot more play than was forecasted. Impossible to rulee out rhe same tomorrow.

Ali give up test cricket and not played for 2 years

Give over the first 2 tests was a joke and rightly beaten
Nope we gave them both tests especially the first. I've watched a lot of cricket over the years and there's no doubt England have been the better team over the 4 tests. Not always best team wins.

England should have won the first test imo.
Had we not scored more runs and taken more wickets than them over the first 3 tests?
No way we deserve to be behind.

Its a result business and the record books show they won the first 2 tests so I beg to differ.
They also lost their best Spinner bowler Lyons and he is a big miss with his record against England,

England was a shambles in the first 2 tests with so many bad choices in the lineup like picking only 3 mainline bowlers knowing Stokes could not bowl enough then Moeen Ali's finger it was all over the place, until the Leeds tests when changes were made it was looking like a whitewash,
