Ironically I think todays rain was the catalyst to the result. If it hadn't been for the lovely Mancunian weather......
:-(
Great entertainment, but I don't think the cricket was as good as the entertainment, there's been some poor batting at times from both sides. What an unbelievable series!
Can’t imagine too many players have retired having got a wicket with their last ball bowled and hit a 6 with their last ball faced.
Agreed. Very little between the sides and both will leave the Oval rueful.A Desmond just about the right result. We settled into a decent groove when 2-0 down.
If my Auntie etc that declaration first test, Bairstow Butter gloves and the non availability of Wood and Woakes are the glaring differences between drawn series and retaining the Ashes.
We handed them those first two tests. That Aussies side is some way short of some of their teams that have come over in the last 20-30 years.A Desmond just about the right result. We settled into a decent groove when 2-0 down.
If my Auntie etc that declaration first test, Bairstow Butter gloves and the non availability of Wood and Woakes are the glaring differences between drawn series and retaining the Ashes.
Very average. Bowlers in particularWe handed them those first two tests. That Aussies side is some way short of some of their teams that have come over in the last 20-30 years.
I don’t think either side is as good as some would have us believe, and India should be a much stiffer challenge. We handed them those first two tests. That Aussies side is some way short of some of their teams that have come over in the last 20-30 years.
Yep. Some of those sides captained by Taylor and, in particular, Border were bloody tough sides to face.Very average. Bowlers in particular
Agreed Jim. As stated, once we washed, ironed and wore our mojo we were there. We handed them those first two tests. That Aussies side is some way short of some of their teams that have come over in the last 20-30 years.
We handed them the second test, when all they could do was bowl bouncers, and we took the bait, had we left the ball a bit more at that point we'd have won the series imho.Very average. Bowlers in particular
The declaration in the first test screwed us, should have carried on.We handed them those first two tests. That Aussies side is some way short of some of their teams that have come over in the last 20-30 years.
There's been great cricket from both sides and both sides have had some shockers as well. Both have had batting collapses and some nightmares in the field.Great entertainment, but I don't think the cricket was as good as the entertainment, there's been some poor batting at times from both sides.
