273 gives a positive NRR, 274 a negative one.

Keep them at 187 or below NRR is at least +1.0

Only 4 teams had a positive NRR at the last WC, and ours was 1.152 which was the best.

It's early days, we'll probably be near enough back to 0 after this game and then can go and work on it.

The NRR we get is the average over the 9 games, of course it matters now

It doesn't matter unless it's a deciding factor much like goal difference. Win our games and we'll qualify through the number of points we have. If, with 2-3 games left it's looking tight then maybe we can think about it. In that scenario you put a side in to bat first so you can try and chase it in a set number of overs to boost your run rate. But as I said, they'll be worrying about winning the games at this stage and then it doesn't matter.

We lost 3 games in the last WC and NRR didn't matter.

Sides won’t worry about NRR until a game is won. Just like when NZ needed 50 off 20 overs against us, (or whatever it was) they decided to smash it round to maximise their NRR.

Exactly. You can't play the game worrying about NRR as it could cost you the win, which is the main aim!

If it's tight with a few games left, teams might try a bit harder to improve it. If there's one game left and we know we need to boost it then we'll bowl first so we can better control it.

But as I said, win your games and it doesn't matter!
 
That was a much better performance from England.

Hard to bowl them out when they were playing to protect their NRR from the 35th over, but we managed it and we're back in the tournament.
 
Bigger fish in the pool than Bangladesh, but never the less a very good win was needed, Topley was very good, Wood ok, Malan had a great innings, Root Good, Should World Cup games be played on a very poor ground and outfield
