Wouldn't have thought so. Concussion or Covid appear to be only circumstances where a playing sub is allowed. On the day he reached 500 wickets aswell.

I think they’re only allowed a substitute fielder.
 
Root it's fine going for shots but maybe wait a bit longer than 15mins after start of play! Oh Brooks will take Bairstow place! Bairstow looks so disinterested the whole series! Going to be tough to get on par with India as long as it's not more than 50 we have a sniff
 
Well thought we wouldn't get 250 at start of our innings maybe we get 75/100 more than that!

Not going to go on about choice of shots anymore because that is how we play now and why we either win or lose games vary rarely draw them!

At moment if we get within 80 of the Indian score it be great!

This happens when we play like this it works just as much as it doesn't!

Was interesting India were 198 in front start of today and deciding to park the bus as in not set attacking fields have in out field bit like a one day game! Few years ago they'd be 4 slips catches aroid the bat!
 
What Anderson and wood didn't do was play a fuller ball often enough l! India seem to get more out the pitch probably because it's there home conditions
 
With Ashwin’s absence, I thought this was England’s perfect chance to exert control of this test match.

Root and Bairstow are having series to forget thus far. Hope they don’t make sizeable contributions once the series has already been decided.
 
They just didn't play the shot well enough! That's the thinking now with how we play not it was the wrong time to play it sit in for a bit and all that! That cricket has gone from this team now! Bairstow though just can't play spin and if Brooks was over there he would be in the side instead of Bairstow..
