But Crawley is a square peg in a round hole; he is a shit opener. The runs that Bairstow as wicket keeper is costing us are hard to measure - it’s not just the extra runs from the batsmen that should have been out, but the extra runs from uninterrupted partnerships, the positive impact on opposition morale, the negative impact on our morale, the fact we are prevented from bowling at a new batsman (several times). It really is a game changing position, and weird that England have done it. Jonny Bairstow as wicket keeper in a T20 is a massive difference to a test matchI cant disagree with this too much , but it wasn't the point in question . Most openers have lower averages than middle order batsmen, especially against a bowling attack that the aussies posses . And putting a square peg in a round hole probably won't fix the issue . A bit like putting alvarez in goal because we don't have too many shots against us and he needs minutes lol
