Cricket Thread

I get tired of hearing how inspiring it will be to the country - which seems to get worse with every success not better!

You're not wrong, but that's a spurious argument anywhere, in my view. It puts far too much weight on a sporting event. It was said in France in the summer of 1998, and apart from a couple of weeks of euphoria, it inspired France to nothing at all. I know, because I lived through it. (And I was very happy to see France win, by the way).

Sri Lanka all out for 55. Gives us a chance of avoiding being bottom now because that must screw their net R/R by some amount, a loss by 302.

5th to 10th is the same for me because you're still out, England just wants to get home quickly, I can see its being swing and hit or miss cricket and see what it brings for the 3 games

India is flying at the moment and looking strong, the Big surprise for me is their seam and swing bowlers are doing all the damage and not the spin bowlers, They do seem to have something going for them and the umpire call is one of them, Home team favouritism in a tight call defo helps,

Still only 1 team knocked out with 9 well in it :)

England need to win all 3, Aus, Ned, Pak
NZ lose both Pak and SL
Afghan lose both Aus and SA.

Not needed but for fun SL beat Bang.

That will leave 5 teams on 8 points (4 if SL lose to Bang).

3 enormous NRR wins needed to play India in the semi. Only 1000/1 to win it.

If we don't finish in the top 8 then we don't qualify for the Champions Trophy.
