Sobers is well before my time, but he was the best card in a Top Trumps deck!

I've only been to a couple of test match days, but one was Hadlee bowling at the Oval. The England openers put on 200, from memory - Fowler/Tavare, around 1982. As you say, one of the very best.

It looks like those two Aussies had quite short test careers.

A decent comeback period after tea, but then not a lot as the 9th wicket trundle along merrily.
Tomorrow will see if England can get to the 4th day - I could see the openers scoring highly again.

Want to see how we bat second innings now will it be an end of series batting performance or will we dig in make it at least last 4/5 days

It's an anomaly really that historically the best cricket nation has only ever had one great all rounder. Keith Miller.
And if Sobers is before your time ex fighter pilot Miller certainly will be!

Funnily enough, I was thinking of him and forgot to write. My dad has told me some about Miller.

Smiling after dropping catches , missing run outs …don’t like attitude and mindset

Yep it's the same for me with post-match interviews after getting thumped and the captains comes out smiling and laughing

"The Burnley Express" has a front page story for the ages !
Congratulations to Lancashire LCCC's very own James Anderson.

Be known as the series Anderson got his 700th test match wicket!

The batters this series let England down and why we got stuffed

Precious little improvement on the 2021 tour. Won the first of four Tests then and it was all smiles and going swimmingly, but when India came back and applied themselves, England showed poor mentality and surrendered meekly. Only difference this time is it’s been drawn out over 5 Tests. Was hoping there would be more of a contest this time.

Really exciting thing is we now don’t have a test match until July. We play two very poor sides in West Indies and sri lanka at home. No doubt we will batter these sides and all will be well again only to then get pummelled by Australia in 18 months.

Honeymoon period over

I turned on and Bashir got out immediately. I shouldn't have bothered.

Pleased for Anderson and Bashir. Happy that Root showed what can be done. That's about it.
