Maybe not a surprise that Woakes has been left out due to injury/his previous form in Australia, but I felt like Woakes was their go to man to open the bowling in the post Anderson/Broad era - I felt like they may have brought back Curran if Woakes wasn't to make it - maybe that's curtains for Woakes England career.
Better have a go with the lottery numbers

Looking at the final championship tables, I see that yet again bonus points make absolutely no significant difference. Why not have a system that actually counts?

Women’s World Cup
Wides (8) is second top scorer for SA (69/10) vs Eng. Six were out bowled.

I tend to think of the BPs being “goal difference” for cricket. They only matter if the accumulated points total of the wins and draws that teams accrue are similar.

On a similar theme, England Women’s NRR will be pretty good in a couple of minutes.

Anyone else watching the women’s cricket? That looked out to me, thoughts?
It probably was, but any slight evidence that the ball might have touched the ground and they give the benefit of the doubt to the batter.

Knight was happy to walk and take the world of the fielder. Guess cricket doesn’t want to get into clear and obvious errors…!

I thought it should have gone with the soft signal, which given knight had walked was surely out?

When you look at the demeanour of our women’s cricket team, I always get the impression of nice, giggly, upper middle class, jolly hockey sticks with a suitably flimsy mentality. When I watch the Aussie and Indian women (the Aussies in particular) I see hard faced professionals, and I can only see a repeat of what happened in the women’s ashes, unfortunately. Tbf to these 2 batting at the mo, they have shown great application, particularly knight given how often she was out/nearly out, game changing decision (Bangladesh may feel the bigger teams get the decisions - where have we seen that before?)

Oh dear. India lost.

Insane game that.

Middle order batting collapse by India.. but I knew since they didn't hit 270.. SA would get there somehow.. and they did.

Thing is I actually like this Indian team but their stars are majorly misfiring and it's been the ones on the periphery of the team that're performing..

Amanjot (underheard of a year ago) - solid all-rounder
Rawal (underheard of a year ago) - solid opener
Kranti (unheard of a year ago) - solid opening bowler
Mandhana (best in the world) - 3 bad games in a row
Jemimah (mainstay) - 3 bad games in a row
Harman (mainstay) - 3 bad games in a row

Minor miracle they're 2-1 but they're about to be found out as they go up against Australia and England next.

It’s been a weird tournament of middle order collapses.

Guess it’s hard to hit the ball far with no pace and such slow wickets.

Then the pace bowlers come back and the scoring rate goes through the roof.

Why not go 100% spin?

Yeah you definitely have a point..

I'd rather bowl out the pacers in the first 15 overs while the ball swings and then go all spin from there.

Bringing the pacers back like India did was suicide.

I would not be surprised if it's career suicide for Harman and she's dropped both as a player/ captain after this world cup since after Sneha got the 7th wicket she went with 2 pacers??

I was scratching my head at that personally.. not the pacers are bad but why provide pace on the ball..

Oh and isn't ODI now using 2 balls.. so when you think the ball has wear in the ending overs, it's only 20+ overs of weardown, not 45+ as you used to get.

It’s not just India though. The Aussies got away with it against Pakistani and England did vs Bangladesh.

Definitely liking the pace only at the start idea.
