Cricket Thread

Enjoy listening to commentators and cricket journalists discussing performances, but English cricketers all sound as if they’ve attended the same media training programmes. Tend to switch off at that point and am surprised media outlets still bother with them.

"wouldn't change, when people got in, they looked comfortable, disappointed in some of the wickets but Australia bowled well. It's worked for us over the past few years and the team are united in this approach."

The Aussie ex-players and journos don't hold back at their players, even if they're only recently retired.

They've gambled everything on this series and we are gonna get battered. Key will go, hopefully. I also think Stokes will too, sadly.
There's a shortage of quality batsmen in the county game and any that show promise should be taken with a pinch of salt cos they rarely, if ever, come up against the test bowlers cos they are always rested!!!
I think Trescothick needs to go as well. When he was a player he wouldn’t tour overseas due to homesickness, not sure that’s the right credentials to be a batting coach for the national team

And it's that openness that keeps the players honest, it's too comfortable in English cricket

On the plus side they get an additional 3 days off before the second Test, on the downside heaven fucking help us when they get Cummins and Hazelwood back

Oh good, that's at least another 3 rounds of golf they'll be able to squeeze in then. Perfect preparation for a pink ball day nighter format that England haven't played for 4 years.
