Apparently, Bashir actually spins the ball. If true, he needs to play.

Leach and Hartley will never win us games in India. Ahmed didn’t look great today either.
I'm not sure any of the young spinners are going to win games for England consistently unless there is a coherent plan to play and develop them over time. Simply turning up in India and expecting things to work is a recipe for disaster.

True. Along with trying to smack their spinners out of the attack, we’re not likely to win much.

You mean something allowing them to bowl on hard dry July/August pitches and not in the cold and wet of May and September?

It'll never catch on.

I questioned the mentality of the players before the test started and I even fancied England's chances,
But after today in the field, we are mentally broken and India has us in their back pockets, India will not have to bat again in this test, England 2nd innings will be over pretty quickly and could be done and dusted in 3 days,

India are 2 or 3 levels ahead of England as a team/squad and that can not be happening, it's not just the spinners but the seam bowlers we face who are better, Then their batters are levels better than anything we have.

I questioned long ago where is this lot of crap going or aims to go, From the coaching to the captain to the selectors
England is all wrong, Even in the first test going with a single seam bowler in Woods and 3 spinners is Crazy, Then you see Bumrah get some swing and get movement off the seam, and Siraj gets some movement and bowled well

Do we actually work on what is needed to go on tours? preparation, practice, warm-up games, climatize, Homework on players and conditions, We have not played a test match for 6 months and that is not right.

Lots of valid complaints and observations. I have sympathy for Stokes. It’s difficult for him to be expected to captain an attack heavy with spinners when he has barely had any in the Test team before. Similarly, if you don’t play a match in country in preparation, there is every chance you are going to burn through your reviews because you’re not reading the pitch well enough or you’re wanting to be seen to be backing your young bowlers even when you maybe aren’t convinced.

As I mentioned above, I don’t mind Test sides using Test series as learning processes, but, in this case, you can’t leave India in 2021 and arrive again in 2024 as if you hadn’t learned anything. The fact that India has chosen to play the Tests away from the familiar venues suggests to me that there may be more surprises in store.

all good shouts.
Test match culture in England is going downhill fast and I can only see it getting a whole lot worse if the ECB don't address the situation and put plans in place, The whole coaching side of the team is way too laid back and not put underpressure to get results,

I believe Test match cricket needs to break away from all formats of 20/20 and big bash/hundred/IPL cricket, Just pick players that only want to play test cricket and country and maybe ODI cricket, Even if the ECB have to double or triple the central contracts for Test players then do it,

Protect Test cricket or we will lose it in England, build a new system that allows the inform players from country cricket getting picked at any age and Stop crossing over players from the white ball cricket because they are on central contracts,

there are enough ex-test players knocking around to learn from, Get them on the ECB board and let them see if they can build a new system and promote Test cricket, Even if it takes 4 years it would be worth every penny

Agreed. I’d also say that they need to stop thinking purely in terms of building solely towards the next Ashes series. They need to have a Test squad that can compete both home and away in all conditions, and the authorities should plan series and tours accordingly; that applies for all countries. A five Test series in India has huge potential, but if you send a half-baked side out and lose Tests within three days, then the public are not going to be drawn to watch.
