Serious question. Has England ever had a weaker opening pair than Duckett and Crawley? I'm struggling.

I really don't understand the comments about lack of fight. In order to have 'fight' you need application, doggedness, guts and character. However, none of these characteristics are required when playing cricket with the sole purpose to entertain. It's a case of don't worry you scored x off y balls. Do the same next innings.

The Fight is the most important thing when you're up against it. The skill and application go straight out of the window when you're faced with danger, The Fight is your last defence

This is purely on the bazball philosophy. In my opinion this set of England players are some of the best to tour Australia in many tours. Certainly the high quality pace bowling attack we have should be tearing the Aussies a new one. But the philosophy of bazball batting, not taking the game situation into account. Just go out there swipe away, don’t worry about playing and missing, just have another go exactly the same, is being found out massively in Australia. It may work at home against some countries but not here.

It's not even the bounce and chin music, it's just poor batting by england ? They have lost the skills of test cricket because of this Bazball ? all the skills of batting, like watching the ball, foot movement, getting behind the ball with your head in line, a straight bat, time at the crease

All the good work over 100 years of test cricket is demolished because of Bazball

Think the seeds for this situation were sown a long time ago. Glaring problems at 3 were glossed over and Anderson and Broad were allowed to carry on too long, which meant the hard decisions over creating a new bowling attack were unnecessarily postponed. Add to that a complete absence of genuine spin options and an ominous 2-0 is understandable.

Thank goodness the County Championship played all those matches with the Kookaburra ball..

A big part of the problem is central contracts. There is virtually zero competition for places and some players have been allowed to retain their place in the side - where under previous regimes other players would had a chance and come into. At the moment apart from Bethall - no one is in contention to come into the batting line up, despite four very poor batting performances.

This feels really gutting to be honest...

We've won the ODI World Cup, we've won the T20 World Cup and the Ashes Away plus the Test World Championship felt like the final things to tick off.

Things felt promising coming into this series and despite some highs and lows in the Bazball era it's definitely been better than anything in recent times. That first away Pakistan tour being my personal highlight where we managed to get a result from an absolute dead pitch.

The World Test Championship punishes you for slow over rates which is one of the reasons we are never in the running for that. Maybe this is something we can change and set this as our new target?

But the culmination of Bazball, the hopeful crowning glory moment. Was meant to be a good performance away in Australia. And it feels as crushingly one sided as it has done in the last 15 years.
