I don't think it's inconceivable that Chelsea could afford the fee, or even United with sponsors help, but salary-wise neither could match Madrid's new offer, which i imagine will in the very least include a 50% payrise.
However, i think the media are misreading what he's saying here. The Spanish press have been saying he won't be signing a new deal, and the English press have been saying he's demanding £25m+ a season.
Is it more likely he'd choose to alienate Real's entire support with a tweet, or could he be saying precisely the opposite to what people think - that reports he wants out or won't be re-signing are false?
For me it's a non-story, really. He'll give it just enough time for the suits at Madrid to start panicking, then he'll sign a huge new deal which will probably make him the world's first half-a-million pound a week footballer.

It's weird listening to talkshite as they talk about Ronaldo going to the scum and if not him Bale! Hello!! Not one person mentions the 80 odd million it would cost that the glazers would not allow in anyway what's so ever!

I wouldn't mind if the rags pay 80mill for either RoFaldo or Bate. Both players will disturb the situation overthere even more since baconface stepped aside. In fact it'll take the pressure of us ruining the market. Or was it football. Or planet earth ...

I am not so sure that's correct, they may just sanction a one off mega deal. They will be desperate to show that despite the Pisscan leaving the sinking ship they will continue to be top of the league. Plus they will make most if the money back from sales and sponsorship.
