Cristiano Ronaldo

You can't seriously tell me Ronaldo at 36 years of age is an absolute must of a signing that will change the fortunes of this club. That's just childish. He's joining as a stop gap to fill in for our striker needs (if he does), max two seasons. I'm really not arsed. More worried how it could go wrong, it's not the way we operate, it's not how we do business, these sort of things are what the rags excel at.

I think this is an important point lost in the shuffle here. A side benefit is how good he could be for our worldwide brand. While I don’t care a whit about such things, the Finance Department does as does ownership. We’re buying a LOT of free advertising here along with 25-30M or whatever . . . and if he moves onto NYCFC after for a few years, all the better. There isn’t an ounce of doubt that after Messi the shirts I see kids wearing most often here in the states are number 7 for Real Madrid (yes, even though he’s been gone for a bit). He’s incredibly popular. He’s Tiger Woods-level popular along with Messi as a personal representative of the sport he plays in the US and worldwide. I’m not arguing shirt sales; I’m arguing relevance of the brand.
My GF's 10yr old Son used to support Juventus purely cause of Ronaldo. Supports City now, thanks to me. For lads that age who play fifa online and collect these gold card things, this will be huge.

The worst part for me is this happens EVERY TIME

Desperate rags continually rumour-monger that they've stepped in and hijacked a City signing - as if they've not been irrelevant for years

How do some of our lot still fall for it?
