There's nothing wrong in appreciating great talent.I'm going to projectile vomit after posting this, but-
You're right about pitches and violent tackles,and taking that into account,and being of a vintage whereby I saw him in the flesh numerous times,then,(gags) I hate to say it, but George Best was a superb footballer.

In his prime, Best was a joy to watch. Only the shirt he wore spoiled it. I saw him and Rodney Marsh playing for Fulham a few times, and Best was always light years ahead of everyone on the pitch.
When it comes to players I've seen in the flash, Best is second only to Maradona imo.
And yes, I've still got my Colin Bell 'Better than Best' t-shirt!

The fact that some of you are fantasising about him scoring and celebrating at the swamp, doing his cringe little celebration and kissing our badge is fucking unnerving.

And no, he's not fit to lace Messi's boots. "He's played in different leagues" is the exact kind of argument someone comes out with when they haven't watched much of either outside of highlights.
