We're literally paying these clowns just because they're Pep's mates.

I'll get pelters from the happy clappers for saying that.
It's not about being a happy clapper. It's about having even the slightest understanding of how football works, what the club's short, medium and long term targets are, and how we go about meeting them.

Heard that one before

Won’t happen this time, sadly. He’ll be very good for them. Thankfully their manager is clueless

The same happened with Grealish, odds on transfers are never definitive.
Grealish went from 1/2 to about 2/1 so the drift wasn’t as big, last time I saw a drift like that was Sanchez so knew it was over as soon as he drifted.

could of been some nice trade made on the exchanges.

The one positive is Pep said we've 3/4 days left if we were finished Pep would have said our business is done.
Honestly give it up mate. He did say that but he was much stronger on saying we will stay the same and that he’s delighted with our squad. We won’t get anyone now.

They are willing to pay for and sell their souls to get whatever they want.
Meanwhile a mountain of debt is heaping up and up and up ...
Mate I hope yer right I really do, I suppose I'm just pissed of, I'll admit I wanted Ronaldo, I honestly think he's an incredible player,
And I really wanted to shove it up them and make them hurt,
Just a bit pissed of now

We went for Messi and he didn't come here. I can get that, I don't think he really wanted to leave them.

We went for Kane and he didn't come here. I can get that we didn't want to pay £150m.

We looked at Lukaku but he didn't come here. We didn't want to pay nearly £100m for him, which I get.

We went for Ronaldo and he didn't come here. I can't understand why £30m is seen as such a 'risk' for the greatest player around.

The club are trying to sign a top class striker as we clearly need one. However, to miss out on all 3 is not good. We NEED a striker, more so than any other position.

I genuinely don't understand why we negotiate with teams for the top, top players if we're not prepared to tip up.

I rate Grealish, but I'd rather we'd have spent £100m on a striker than another midfielder.

If United get Ronaldo, on top of Varane and Sancho then will improve a good few points.

I can only hope the club are preparing a bid for a striker now, surely...?
Wish we had negotiating people like that Maria last from Chelsea lol they don’t seem to play around or stage their feet. They identify a target and chances are they get it.

This thing felt off for me from the beginning.
One of the best players in the world in a position we desperately need, available for less money then we were willing to pay Kane (whole package that is) and for last 24h u've seen reports like Man City not fully committed, not sure how he would fit in, how Pep is not sure but would prefer Ronaldo over no striker, Man City haggling over a fee etc. With an attitude like this these mega transfers do not get done.

I'm absolutely baffled by the strategy the club has chosen for this window, I have absolutely no doubt this has been a huge failure and gone completely against their plans and the people in charge are aware of this.

To add to the striker mess, Bernardo is still in the club who obviously wants to leave. I bet we signed Grealish for 100M as a replacement but his fee is making it difficult to land a striker as we can't get rid of Bernardo.

Spend 40m on Nathan Ake no question, but 25m for the second greatest player of all time? Too expensive. Txiki Birgistain that.
Don’t think we will be paying Ake £50M+ over 2 years, whereas it looks like the rags will be paying him at least £75M as they’re offering him 3 years!
Bullet well and truly dodged there.

It's not about being a happy clapper. It's about having even the slightest understanding of how football works, what the club's short, medium and long term targets are, and how we go about meeting them.
Unless it's an easy transfer with a buy out clause and nobody else interested, we tend to fuck them up. And that's all on the board.

My take from the start-
city has build this holistic approach based on ethos and they simply couldn’t be all over this having just hung dry kane . Only possible solution was as if he would come for free and make it look like he is the one desperate and not the way round ,hence the refusal to pay the fee.
Just my opinion.
Onwards blues and back to work.
