Let’s get real, was we ever really in for him? A proven goal scorer? The genius that is txiki has decided that signing a midfielder will solve all of our problems so who am I to argue

"Chelsea are now better then us" eh? They're quite far behind in my opinion and will be by the end of the season
I hope you are right mate, I really do.
they have a template which is a bit like catnip to us since Tuckel rocked up. Btw results since he did suggest they aren’t that far behind us. They have strangled us in the last three games. We can bang on about our team selections but they can only beat what is in front of them and they have three times on the trot. One of the reasons they beat us is our missed chances in tight games. That is why I felt it was important for us to get a clinical striker for this season. In a close season where Lukaku, Messi, Ronaldo and Ings have moved club already. Kane and Mbappe want to, Haaland who knows because Dortmund haven’t had a serious offer. And yet we haven’t been able to close anything for a striker.

maybe We will sweep all before us but our rivals have strengthened without a doubt.

City actually tricked United into signing a 37 year old.. hahaha.
We was his first choice but once we said no thanks he chose the desperate cunts.
I'll run with that, it's almost as good as the rags crying he was coming here.
Beautiful.

Just having a nice cup of freshly ground coffee from some poncy company that cost me 6 effing quid for a bag of beans. Whilst watching this thread burn through poor old Ric's bandwidth like my missus goes through a a pot of haagen dazs when it is half price at the shop.

Hope you are well old bean.
Ronaldo would have cost £25-30m and we fuck it off,
sometimes I wonder if the powers that be have a clue what to do when it comes to signing top players
No, they dont. We cant quite get top tier players yet. We will, but not yet. A champs league win wouldve helped

If anybody thinks Ronaldo wouldn't have hugely improved our team and won't hugely improve their team, they're deluding themselves and being blinded by their hatred for the rag twat

Unfortunately we've somehow allowed ourselves to be left behind by Chelsea and the Rags having productive transfer windows and by Liverpool having key players back from injury, whilst we've sat still or some may suggest actually gone backwards

Maybe Pep will come up with something again but at the moment it looks like we're in a top 4 fight to me
That assumes City and Utd have similar squads. We don't.

Man Utd have Greenwood, Cavani and Rashford competing for the central striker. City have no one other than kids who are central strikers. City have fantastic wide men in de Bruyne, Mahrez and Grealish who are the best in the game. We would have created loads of chances for Ronaldo. He wont get that at Man Utd.

no doubt we are, but many games we need a focal point and someone to put the ball in the net.
The false nine system stands or falls on being able to limit and control the effectiveness of teams on the counter. This can be achieved by us most of the time but better teams appear to find a way around it. If our defence is not 100% solid as it was last December and January we often find ourselves in trouble.

It also robs us of the type of blistering counters which were common when Sane was around the place and Kun was the focal point of attack. Look all this stuff is well known and I am not stating anything that we have all heard before. But I find it hard to accept though that playing most games with a false 9 particularly big ones is the optimal approach to winning football matches. As things stand currently we look set to find conclusive evidence as to whether this is a good long term strategy this season.

Not for the first time.

Or the second.

People can say what they want about Gary Cooke but he knew his way around a transfer negotiation: Agree a budget, Identify targets within the budget, Sign targets. Done.
Would these guys have signed David Silva for 24m? Sergio for 38m? Yaya for 24m? Tevez for free? No I don’t think they would. They would have offered 15m for D Silva and “walked away”.

This summer we spent 100m on a player who may well become a great but is currently unproven above Championship level and only got him because he had a release clause.

Whigh was the greater priority? A striker or yet another midfielder for a team that already has Bernardo, Foden,Fernandinho,KDB, Jesus, Sterling, Torres,Mahrez?

The minute we spent 100m on Jack the price of ANY striker we go for increased by 50m. You get your priority signing done first and then go back with the release clause for Jack if you decide you still want him.

It is transfer 101.

The richest club in the world cannot afford a striker in the most depressed transfer market for years. Shameful.

We may get lucky with injuries and get away with it this year but we would need extraordinary luck in order to win the league again.

Chelsea have strengthened quietly and efficiently.
Liverpool wont be as unlucky with injuries again.
United have their best squad in a decade.
City have further strengthened their rivals by not strengthening themselves.

Amateurish and arrogant in equal measure.

Just trying to get my season card cancelled after reading that, spending my money on euthanasia instead

Good bit of business from United. Was truly hoping to sign him. Can we maybe pull off the best transfer of all now and goall out for that beast of a player Haaland?

Kane didn't become a world class striker until Pochettino gave him a chance in the Spurs team. Kane didn't pull up any trees in his loan spells beforehand.

Give Delap a go. With great creative players around him what is the worse that could happen

Finishing below rags and chavs because we need 25 chances to score one goal against most half decent teams.

Missing out on a shit load of commercial deals because we have no star striker.

I bet Delaney, Harris, tariq Panja had articles about to be published about how City and PSG killed off the game getting the crown jewels in Messi and CR.

now the have to dig into how CR to rags shows football is still not dead lol despite they really only got fooled desperatelz into buying him.

Haha bet they’ve working all night on an article

Can’t disagree with any of that, grealish is a decent signing but not worth a £100 mill, the transfer window up to now ( still a few days to go)has been a disaster in my opinion..

I feel homeless..

I can't head to the Messi thread,
I can't head to the Kane thread,
This thread is fubar as well.
I can't even resurrect the Isco thread for fear of the Hammer of Ban...

Where the fuck do I go now?
Give it a few hours and we will be linked with a new left sided midfielder, you can settle in nicely there.

They had our number after Tuchel joined. They were very very good under him and will only get better. They have strengthened, not least a striker who will get them 25 pl goals. Odds on favourites for the league in my eyes
