Agreed. In the season of the “Centurions” Klopp and his team finished twenty six points behind Pep and his team. Then he goes and proves what a hypocrite he is by breaking two transfer records when he’d sanctimoniously stated he’d quit football if such fees became the norm. That’s a perfectly fair opinion to hold.
Where do you think I have undersold his achievements? I was very complimentary about his CL win - I think I said it was without question an incredible achievement. Similarly his performance in the League this year is outstanding. The way his team is playing now, after 4 years and a shit load of investment, is unquestionably impressive.
Outside of that, I don’t see a lot to get particularly excited about - so I’d be keen to understand what I’m missing. I mean - Mourinho, Ancelotti and Conte all achieved more in less time (and with far less leeway) at their respective English clubs than Klopp has, so I do genuinely struggle to see what’s so earth shattering about him - once you strip away the fawning press commentary.
Additionally, one of those record breaking transfers was a “sweeper-keeper”. An innovation that Guardiola took a lot of ridicule for and yet he stuck to his principles.
I could say a lot more about that charlatan but I’ll finish with the fact that MCFC have been exposed to an “illegal” version of VAR that has benefitted Klopp. We know it. Even the Scousers know it but they’ll never admit it.
