Criticism of Pep

His own stubbornness is preventing us progressing now. Flexing his genius brain muscles with all manner of selections to almost test himself, and by refusing to put pressure on to get the signings we need.
Would I have anyone else though? No! Despite some frustrations, the best football it's been my privilege to watch by far.
The fit he has here works both ways.
Hope he realises what an opportunity he has and signs another contract.

Agreed mate - but where Barca and Bayern have struggled is to continue with the same philosophy - football changes and if we only play type of way - issues can arise when there is a need to change as we don't have the necessary personnel

It will be interesting - to say the least. I still think we will win trophies post Pep but the domination he demands of trophies every year may not be a guarantee

Barca and Real haven't really changed.

One still plays attacking football and the other will always go down the Galactico route.

They both will always have one foot in a UEFA final for very obvious reasons as well.

City will be about possession based, attacking football with a high line and defensive press from all the players going forwards and whilst the owner is here and Txiki and Ferran i dont see that changing at all.

Question is how successfully can the next guy along do it?

Not as well as Pep is the answer and its why some on here should be careful about what they wish for.

Tactically he has the game to win the CL, he has proven that.

Can he take a club like ours all the way with our relationship with the old G14, UEFA and officials?

Doubtful but that isnt a reflection on him imo.

8 years ago he certainly had the nous but obviously uefa have put a stop to Bayern and City competing. Let’s hope he signs a new deal and manages to work around this.

Pep is the greatest manager City have ever had, and we'll be very, very lucky if we ever get one better.

That doesn't mean he is perfect, or that I agree with his every decision, or even that he doesn't sometimes get things wrong. But we should have a sense of perspective. Almost certainly, our next manager will be a downgrade. (Maybe he'll praise the fans and take the piss out of the Rags, but even I could do that. It's the rest of the job that is key.)

Pretty much exactly what I think. I think we need a rebuild of 3/4/5 players as this team peaked last year for me. I think some tough decisions need to be made (otta, stones, Walker?/ Mendy?/ Sané?) and whoever is planned to be in charge for the next 3 years needs to be in place at the end of this season, hopefully that’s pep but if he’s only planning on one more year personally I’d like the new guy to take over next season or else it doesn’t make sense. I really REALLY hope it’s pep but so long as we get the right man in I wouldn’t be too heartbroken if it’s not. I’d rather that than remember pep for what could have been with him leaving under an cloud of under forming for a season or two with the brain dead calling him a useless lazy cnut- because believe me that’ll happen

This is my first post. Disclaimer: I’m not a Manchester City fan, but I am a fan of the football you’ve played over the last three years.

If you want an outsider's perspective, I think elements of your fanbase are completely out to lunch. It’s a strange alchemy of cynicism, rage and ignorance combined with a victimization complex.

You’ve just witnessed the two highest-scoring seasons in premier league history, and yet you show your coach and players so little respect it beggars belief.

I remember when Barcelona were knocked out of the Champions League by Chelsea in 2012. I’m sure their fans were disappointed, but at the end of ninety minutes, they stood and applauded in unison in recognition of their team's achievements over the prior four years.

Yes, that Barcelona team won more, but they also had a much stronger first eleven than this City team. Given the individual quality of your players—which is very high, but not significantly better than your current rivals—this team has performed tremendously.

I hope you guys win the Champions League this year, your team deserves it. I also hope the more ignorant elements of your fanbase learn to appreciate what they’ve got before it’s too late.

For the record, there are definitely areas where you could improve the individual quality of your team, but all of your players deserve the utmost respect for what they’ve accomplished over the last two seasons.
Who do you support?

Spot-on. I think how we handle Pep's departure will be crucial for the future. As long as we keep the same senior management structure in place and the same philosophy led by Khaldoon I will be confident. We may not repeat the last decade but we should still be challenging for honours. Pep is a one-off that's for sure.

How many champions league titles did Fergusson win in his two and a half decades of dominance?

If pep stays here the next two decades, and wins 'only' 2, but delivers the domestic success so consistently (imho he could deliver more) i'd be bloody delighted. Do we really think over the same period another collection of managers would deliver more, either in CL or domestically?

Very good, you seem to know your stuff. He has upset one or two , who seem to be able to pick a better team and formation. Others he has upset because of some comments. Many of whom only post negatively anyway.

Wish we had more supporters with your nouse.

Bayern was just injuries. He got to the semi finals every year and then lost 4 or 5 of his starting 11 each year.
