Crystal Palace (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Fixation will be on the ref but it shouldn't be, the reality is we were shit again. That's a Palace side that's seriously struggling right now and we made them look like European contenders at times. Other wannabe champions win that kind of game by 4 or 5 at a canter. That's how far off we are.

I said after Forest the glaring problems hadn't gone, Kdb and doku just masked them temporarily and today we are back to being wide open with everybody running forwards but nobody running backwards.

Our press is absolutely shite, We hardly ever get even close to getting the ball and we get played around without much effort needed from the opposition the majority of the time. It's now like watching a sunday league side try and press because they've seen us do it and want to replicate it without having any understanding of how to actually do it. Nobody ever tracks a man either, they always pass it on without even checking and simply chase the ball. We must be the easiest side in the top 4 divisions to play around, the most basic of give and go's and you're in.

Something huge would need to happen for us to finish top 4.

Playing like this, be lucky to finish top half.

It’s abysmal and sick of hearing the excuses.

Excuse fc.

The clubs main operators have taken pep and this group of players for granted. They looked like they couldn’t be arsed and have been flogged.

Poor recruitment can set you back years.
Chill mate.

This team has come to the end of it's cycle, it's can't go on forever.

What's happening now i thought would happen last year or the one before that but they put their bodies on the line again and again and produced 4 in a row.

This season has caught up with the team. Players are constantly injured because of what they've achieved in the last 4 years. If we can limp it through to January and make a couple of signings then next summer recruit and recruit well we'll be fighting again but this season isn't going to get any easier. If we get top 4 we've done extremely well, that's all we can aim for.
We all need to step back and let this season be the transitional one for going again next year.

Far too many people accept mediocracy.

We all know the excuses now. It’s been talked about to death.

The club is responsible for giving the manager a group of player to win games. They have failed to do that.

We have a group of players who are too old or not good enough with the odd player like Dias and Haaland sitting in between them.

The players should have been replaced in the summer. Leave the sentimentality to the fans.

Watching great players look like shit is a great sight. Rodders os out but the decline from the rest is pathetic.

When do we stop to make excuses?

Get on with it.
Reasons not excuses

There was going to be a drop off at some point , some absolute professional bellends on here , maybe we should win 6 in a row - even then some wouldn’t he happy on here, fuck knows what this place will be like when Pep leaves and an even bigger drop in form happens.
why there should be a bigger drop in form with new coach , if the coach that comes is very good? Agree that proably will never win so many titles as with Pep ,who is the best ,but there are more than capable coaches in the world of football.

Obviously not a great result, some players need to take a look at their performance, that said, very strange team selection after the game on Wednesday, makes me wonder?
Maybe saving players for the CL on Wednesday when we really need a good result

Collectively and individually, the lack of fitness and sharpness is absolutely fucking wild. They look like the fitness regime is one sit up, a Christmas toblerone and a full pouch of Drum.

Walker shouldn’t feature again. Diabolical performance especially their second goal. He’s clearly “checked out” mentally knowing he won’t be around come the summer and is just going through the motions. Let a kid play.

Gundog sad as fuck to see. He’s turned into the shit, slow, fat one at 6 a side. His previously sharp as a tack mind has packed its bags and fucked off. He’s a good 2 seconds behind the game mentally now.

Felt for Rico. Never a foul never mind a yellow. Gives his absolute all the kid, and what a superb finish.

Good to see Kev getting there.

The only bright spark today was Dias who was unbelievable. One of his full on warrior performances and lovely to see him back to his best.

Draw is a good result given the current situation.

Walker looks done. He now struggles keeping pace with opposition players who are running with the ball at their feet!

From what I could see of the action via bet365, the ref added on four minutes, during the injury time a Palace player got booked, did that booking take just four seconds ? Hence why the ref blew at 4minutes 4 seconds?

Whatever, I'll take the point. But that was fucking shocking in the end.

There are so many "first team" players giving us absolutely fuck all at the moment. Less than fuck all, to be honest. They're tired, over-played, and lacking the hunger you need to play for a Pep team.

Walker, Gundogan, Bernardo, and Gvardiol - all of them have been absolutely terrible in so many games recently. Giving the ball away constantly, making huge mistakes, and gifting it to the other team at all times.

Palace created nothing. We gifted them the first goal and then passed it straight to them for the second goal. That sort of shit is unacceptable but Pep seems to think it's fine despite it happening 10 times per game at the moment?

Meanwhile "squad players" like Ortega, Doku, Nunes, and Grealish are giving us so much more and carrying an actual bloody threat when they come on. It's time for Pep to really shake things up just before January imo.

Ortega
Akanji, Stones, Dias, Lewis
Kovacic, Grealish
Foden, De Bruyne, Doku
Haaland

Play that XI until the window opens. Let Gundogan and Walker save themselves from any more embarrassment, give Bernardo a proper rest, drop Gvardiol until he gets his fucking act together. Give the others a chance!

And if Kovacic isn't fit for the Manchester derby, what does Gundogan currently offer us that Wright or O'Reilly wouldn't give us? He gets caught dawdling at least twice per half. Pep needs to put a rocket up his arse.

Lewis :) He did well to score, but we are a worse team with him in 5 from 6 games in which he starts. It's not a coincidence we played our best game this week without him. He and Walker are useless in defence, more than Gvardiol who was overplayed. Also, what has Foden done this season to be a firm starter? 0 goals and 1 assist, that's worse than Savinho...

The decline in our squad is appalling
