Crystal Palace (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

This is an off season for us. Can't expect players to keep breaking record after record. Far, far too many injuries for us to absorb.

It'll be an interesting title race. Arsenal will be pissed off if we're having an off season then the Dippers come along and win it.

No shit Sherlock.

So disappointed feels like everything is against us at the moment.

I want 2 players in January.

We’d have won that if Doku and Grealish had started imo. Nunes and Savinho didn’t offer much.

Nunes wasn't a problem, he is the only one who creates chances for Haaland (5 assists so far), KDB aside. Also, 92% pass accuracy and 4 created chances today (most).

Savinho could/should have done better. But at least he's fit and available. Not his fault that Grealish and Foden have missed many games, Doku too.

Generally, our injuries have undermined our league campaign. Should reduce the number of injury prone players in the summer. As good and nice as Ake and Stones are, carrying two injury prone defenders is a bit too much.

But if Walker had pushed up the player would be offside..I'm not saying Lewis is brilliant but he does get a lot of unfair criticism
I agree, Lewis is the scapegoat as he's the easy target which is strange because we've far more senior players that's way off it.

I understand your point too if Walker had of been pushed up he'd be offside, I think it's more so the distance between Lewis and the attacker was a large gap and so easy to get in behind, Normally IF the player is offside in a wide position with that type of ball that was played, The full back normally still gets out to his man to stand him up or get a tackle in to the player.

It's only a small criticism of Rico for the goal, Personally I thought he could have positioned himself better, Walker was shocking, He can see right across the line, It's not laziness, It's stupidity as it's not the first time.

Walker is a fucking disgrace.

Team playing poorly.

Felt for Rico but shouldn’t even be giving the ref a decision on a second yellow.

Frustrating.

errors cost us as per all season, honestly though at least it wasn't a defeat.

onto midweek where tbh rather we didn't risk anyone ahead of the derby

Not able to impose himself physically for that position. And God knows I've defended the man. But no, not there. You might say, well, Gundo, neither. And I'd agree with you.
Nunes can be much more useful out on the wing on in attacking midfield.

It's a long shot, but you know, something I've been thinking about for some time — Kev playing further back, in defensive midfield. He's such a superb reader of the game, it might be worth a punt. Over time, he's got to start playing deeper, anyway. The lung-busting attacking midfielder games over ninety minutes, those are finished. Pep's very good at reinventing players. This might be his latest.
I would try Johnny Stones when he is fit. Good defender and has the passing ability needed. Good football brain as well.

Not losing head mate, sick of the excuses.

The team is bang average. Hoping that viana can pull out few rabbits is 50/50.

I don’t blame pep or the players. Problems down to poor management.

Anyway, that’s me done.

Next up -:)
Yeah, not having a go, just think the excuses are fair enough. We got the timing wrong on the big rebuild by a year, and we are in an injury crisis that would derail any team's season and players look like they are holding off signing for us till there's movement on 115. Pep should have committed earlier, but we have him for two more seasons now.

I understand why he might want a small squad but it’s high risk - when you lose 6-7 players out or unfit it is disastrous. No five in a row this season but the last four have been wonderful.
Absolutely true, beyond my wildest dreams mate.

When the goings good, everything Erl touches turns to goals, Rico looks good, Kev looks a good. However we find out about players when the chips are down.

We got a shed load of cash for Hooolian, but didn't bother replacing him, then Bobb gets injured, shit happens.

Where the small squad and imo poor forward planning hits us is not having a replacement/ understudy for Rodri, not having a replacement striker, and allowing the midfield to age. I'd say the 2 most crucial players we need are clones for Rodri and Kev, that's really not hindsight, it's something that should have been addressed long before now.

It is going to be a slog this season, we need to get players in this January.

Have we even got one?

Remember “we never score from a corner … score from a corner”

He did deserve to go. It was beyond stupid.

He needs to shut the fuck up, he isn’t a captain and his first yellow was for whining.

He clearly loves the club but as of today he’s nowhere near this level.

Walker is done. Just retire. At the very least be man enough to refuse the captaincy and focus on how bad you are yourself.

Full backs are killing us this season.

Heads are gone, look at the two minutes leading up to their second. Out of nowhere we couldn’t string two passes together. We can’t carry all of those players while they are underperforming. Josko played well but always has one mistake in him and savinho and Nunes largely invisible.

We’re almost at a point of chucking this season and using it to prep for other stuff.
What we prepping for?
Unless we buy 3 ir 4 in January, next season will be a rightoff also

Haven't seen it but good point in our quest to secure top four. Four in a row. Six out of seven. Injury ravaged. Get behind the lads. We will be fine. Grealish and Doku saved for the more important game on Wednesday.
A point at Palace, twice behind, seems a decent point to me in our current circumstances.

i don't get leaving two of our best players from Wednesday (Doku and Grealish) on the bench until the last few minutes?

Said it before and got laughed at, what Txiki has done is bordering negligence, the squad is absolutely the weakest I can remember in recent years. Feels like the year after Fergie won the title, if City don’t get a grip of the recruitment and stop concentrating on being the net spend kings it could get worse before it gets better.
