Crystal Palace (h) post-match thread

Great performance this morning. All round domination, I can't remember the last time we did that, and never gave a Palace a look in.

Stoked to see Raz score a cracker, he needed that, Gundogan's goal was sublime, and it doesn't matter how much praise you give Dias and Stones, it still isn't enough. They've changed the whole team this season with their partnership. Kev is back being Kev again, glad to see him dominate the game then get some rest after it was won.

All those threads slating Pep should be quiet now. He's done a immense job rebuilding the side, and shifting tactically.

On to Villa now, hopefully continue this run.

Very professional performance,Palace always has the potential to be a banana skin. Our centre half partnership is surely the envy of Europe and its great to see KDB starting to look like his old self.
The media don't like it,but we are beginning to stamp our extra quality over this farcical season.

Shame one of the kids didn't get on though,it was another very good opportunity missed.

So so So happy!!! Excellent performance. Palace not a single shot on target. We are winning these games from the back for a change. Pep said he asked him team to run slower and the result is a tight defense and midfield. Excellent result and one win away for being top

Ederson - Had nothing to do!
Walker - Sloppy as he is coming back from COVID but once he shakes it off he will be back to his best
Stones - GOLD!!
Dias - GOLD!!
Zinchenko - Had a very good game. Played a midfield role like Cancelo. Very happy for him
Fernandinho - Our Tank. We need to give him another 1 or 2!!!
Gundogan - Superb and what a goal
De Bryune - 100 Assists!! Its criminal how he can pass that assist to Stones.
Bernardo - Getting back to his best. Was everywhere
Sterling - Very good game and redeemed himself for the lousy penalty with a superb Freekick!! Like he said...penalties are over rated!! hahahaha
Jesus - Ran his socks off but still rusty. Needs time as he is also coming back from COVID.

Bar Walker and Jesus who are still recovering from COVID everyone else had a great game. And that assist from De Bryune, I honestly believe we should not even think of getting Messi, we don't need him. We have KDB

We are one win away from Top and these 4 homes games in a row has helped our players find consistency so bring on Aston Villa!!! Come on CITY!!!

Right, so all we need now is:
A world class striker to replace Sergio.
A great DM to replace Ferna.
A specialist LB.
£250M should do it. Many thanks to Sergio and Ferna for great service, but tempus fugit.

In fairness, there's never anything really wrong with pointing out a few things are awry and given what happened last season you're concerned there's going to be a downward trend. Right or wrong there would have been a discussion to be had.

But the fact was it was done by so many with such doom. The over the top reactions and bet wetting over every aspect of the club was infuriating to read.

Let's not count any chickens yet, it is a weird, long and unpredictable season.

But i'll say again what i said back then. Motherfucking Context! Late finish to last season, no pre season, hunners of injuries, no strikers, no fans (and as such less last minute charge when lifted to find the winner, or, the parked bus team feeling collective nerves). Plus that continued VAR clusterfuck.

Making excuses, they said. The media tried to pile in with focus on pep's future too, which admittedly could have been dealt with earlier, but i genuinely believed he did want it, just tried using it as some motivational tool for the players.

Season can still go any which way, including cancellation, but i still maintain we have the talent and top players, we have the best manager to motivate a winning mentality and find ways to string wins. With Sergio still to come into the team, we really could go on a good run at a crucial crunch time.

The team didn’t play like it. We were porous in defence and abject in attack.

Guardiola found a way but for mostly two years, not just this season, we’re well below our best. In the past few weeks (4 weeks or so) it feels like he’s back because he knows what the team needs as there’s now something to build from.

For me, our Lyon defeat showed he didn’t trust our defence before the game started and after it didn’t believe in our attack because we wasted so many chances. That belief came into this season.

Now (as in the recent 5/6 games) it feels like he really believes in one side of our team. The glint in his eye is back. I’m delighted to see it because the getting the offensive side firing is what he’s best at.

Two years? Two fucking years, get a grip!

I was getting so annoyed when people just started echoing the rounding up of a handful of mediocre early games (in context previously described) to 18 months of 'crap'. I see the clock hasn't stopped, despite this mini resurgence!

Slipped in jibe comments like that sometimes really come across like folk are willingly waiting for things to go wrong.

I challenge last season being rewritten. Won a trophy. two actually, as i count the shield. came within 2 wins of winning fa cup and within 3 wins of winning the CL. We won multiple games to get to those points, do they not count? Ok, below our best in the league, but still second, still
plenty of goals, and some good dominant performances. Not a roaring success of a season, and yes arguably below our expectations. But in no way the disaster people are willing to turn it into.
