Crystal Palace (H) - Post-Match Thread

Im curious to know what signs you've seen from De bruyne that he will get back to his best form? To call him a passenger at best this season would be being kind. He's been absolutely awful, no reason to gloss over it so I don't understand why its such a ridiculous thing to ask if he's perhaps on the decline? He's 30 now and has never been naturally athletic or fit. World class players should be dragging their team through tough moments, games and periods, like today. He was nowhere to be seen today, no doubt he will be embarrassed himself being brought off for a centre back chasing the game. Need another run like last season or its FA cup at the most this year.
Belgium playing Kevin in the EUROs with ankle ligament tears and pumping cortisone in is the reason Kevin isn't able to deliver his best for us at the moment. He's lost some sharpness temporarily as a result. Suggesting he's on the decline is a comment that might come back to haunt you - if you know what I mean.

Days like this (extremely rare days) and a few think they could select a better team and organise a better formation on the day than Pep. I trust the vast knowledge of Pep over that of any fellow Blue. Opinions always good amusement the rest of us though.
Bet pep agrees with me today tho! It is rare, but every general moan about us was there in full glare today,we all see our failings when we're rubbish, and disappointed. Up the Blues.

Pretty shocking day at the office. Won’t dwell on it for too long but it’s been coming.

Kev clearly isn’t fit/right and I’d take him out of the side until he feels better. He looks absolutely knackered. We know the player he can be.

Laporte was naive, we can debate red or yellow all day but he was all over him and that gives the ref a decision to make. Can’t argue with the red card. Not good enough by him for thier first either. Stones will hopefully take that spot back next to Reuben and make us solid again.

Controversial one that’ll probably get me some stick but it’s my opinion. Ederson… Thankfully we don’t concede too many chances because Ederson isn’t it for me as a shot stopper He’s calm with the ball at his feet and can kick it really far and is decent coming out of his box to clear more often than not but how many teams score against us with their first chance? I’m not slagging him off but I’d have expected a top keeper to get near their first. The save he made in the 2nd half was a decent one, but a save I’d expect most if not all top keepers to make.

Grealish is going to take time to settle in but it’ll come. I’d like to see him get a bit of game time coming from deeper and central. He’s not pacey enough to be a winger in my opinion.

We’re desperate for a target man or a near post run from a forward. Surely we can have Delap or any other academy lad that’s a natural striker, who’ll do the things that come naturally as a striker as an option from the bench, because if plan A doesn’t work we really don’t have an alternative. Thankfully, plan A has worked pretty well for us in recent times.

Our play looks laboured and slow at times and it’s because we have no focal point. We’re relying on perfection or a mistake for every goal because we’re not creating the chances we’d have if there was someone leading the line.

All that said, well done palace, they played the game and took their chances. Can’t argue with the result.

Special mention to the ref. Gave their keeper plenty of waves to hurry up but didn’t book him until it didn’t matter. Piss poor officiating from the very first goal kick they had. Wanker.
None of the top teams concede many chances so comparing the records of each GK is absolutely fair. Ederson concedes fewer goals than the other top GKs year-in, year-out. Not by accident, not because he plays for us. The guy has monumental ability but some on here take him for granted.

I blame Pop pies, those red bloody warmongering poppies

shit happens, happened and will happen again/

please, is there a way to avoid the doom and gloom soiled arsewipes , bed wetters and fannies populating these threads each time shit happens?

even when it does not happen those spoilt cunts have turned bluemoon into an unbearable version of rawk. Under the post match analysis and criticism alibi they relish on slagging off our players.

Anyways, Big Patrick first win in Pep's bicentennial.
Onto the scum at the swamp.

"We’re relying on perfection or a mistake for every goal because we’re not creating the chances we’d have if there was someone leading the line."...brilliantly said...totally agree!

This loss might be nothing, but it could also mean three points that will lose us the title. The most worrying thing for me is we went to Chelsea, we made them look like bunch of mugs and still we are five points behind.
According to to all stats from our recent games, we lost today after conceding early and going a player down in the first half. The second half was just formality.
Nobody was up for it today, Rodri was decent battling it in the MF, but he needs to score from those chances; KdB is like flogging a dead horse, instead of picking his form as he's been playing more and more, he became totally useless; and Ederson is really doing everything to prove he is nothing more than an average shot-stopper. The rest were all more or less mediocre, apart from Laporte who managed somehow to outshit his performance against Tottenham.
Our performance this season when encountering dogged defences require Pep's attention and some serious tweaks if we are going to stay in the title race.

We need KDB and Grealish or AN Other to increase their assists / goal output otherwise we wont win the title.

Last seasom KDB clicked in the 2nd half of the season.

I've said it elsewhere but I'm hopeful this is like last season where the lack of preseason and the odd bit of tactical uncertainty hampered us initially, but once we found our groove we really got going.

There's signs based off a few performances this season that there's an incredibly high quality team in there somewhere. Chelsea, Liverpool, PSG, Arsenal, Brighton, Brugge, weren't just good, they were great performances , against legitimate top opposition (even if we lost in Paris).

I remember a stat last December that our top league scorer around the point we hit our stride was either Sterling or Foden, with 4. A few of them exploded into form over the next 3 months or so.

IMO, breaking down these weaker sides requires a mental and physical strength that we're not quite seeing yet, different to the bigger games, but hopefully it's coming. We had it in all 3 of our title winning seasons under Pep. I'm optimistic that when Zinchenko, Gundogan, and Stones start to get more game time the results will follow.
