Wonder if Jesus will get any credit for the assist for Aguero's first goal like KDB normally gets ? Doubtful even though it was a thing of beauty.
Got no mention, recognition, indeed wasn't shown at all on motd post match analysis whereas every other goal for every other team was. When Jesus put that ball across I expected it to go out for touch but Aguero, from nowhere like a flash was onto it and gobbled it up like the goal hungry monster he is. His second was a very neat header concluding his 250th and 251st goal for City but not deemed worthy of showing or mentioning in between repeating Palace's equalizer over and over again.

We have never been media savvy and I like it way as we always show by deed why the media are irrelevant in the bigger picture.

I thought again we were unlucky with the result and on the balance of play should have got the win but that's football.

Chelsea should have got at worst a point and got nothing and again you don't always get the result you deserve on the day.

To qualify for next years Chump League again is the aim and we begin again next decade when we have been far an away the best team of the past decade in England.

Don’t understand why Walker wasn’t picked. Every time I’ve seen City v Palace in recent seasons. Walker has snuffed out any danger with Zaha.
Do you reckon Pep is trying different things out for the long term gain because he knows the league has gone ?

We have a great team, a great manager, play great football and win trophies. Why aren't we media savvy? What is the Manchester City's press department there for, exactly? There's a disconnect there a lot of City fans aren't happy about.

Exactly, it's not rocket science, let's hope Pep wasn't saving him for his boyhood team at t'lane

I am totally confused wrt the handball rule. When the ref gave it, I said to myself there is no way VAR can overturn it as it defo hit his hand and I was convinced we were all playing to the tune of "if it hits your hand in the box, even if unintentional" then a penalty ensues.

So, can anyone state what is the exact rule that VAR are working to (gen Q) and not looking for only applies for everyone else

The rule as it currently stands is:
he following ‘handball’ situations, even if accidental, will be a free kick:
The ball goes into the goal after touching an attacking player’s hand/arm
A player gains control/possession of the ball after it has touches their hand/arm and then scores, or creates a goal-scoring opportunity
The ball touches a player’s hand/arm which has made their body unnaturally bigger
The ball touches a player’s hand/arm when it is above their shoulder (unless the player has deliberately played the ball which then touches their hand/arm)

The following will not usually be a free kick, unless they are one of the above situations:
The ball touches a player’s hand/arm directly from their own head/body/foot or the head/body/foot of another player who is close/near
The ball touches a player’s hand/arm which is close to their body and has not made their body unnaturally bigger
If a player is falling and the ball touches their hand/arm when it is between their body and the ground to support the body (but not extended to make the body bigger)
If the goalkeeper attempts to ‘clear’ (release into play) a throw-in or deliberate kick from a team-mate but the ‘clearance’ fails, the goalkeeper can then handle the ball

So I would suggest the referee on the field determined it hit his hand (no doubt there) and that his body was unnaturally bigger. Yes some allowance has to be made for him coming in to block, but his arm is a hell of a long way away from his body, and I can't see how it isn't making his body 'unnaturally larger' - irrespective of the leeway that needs to be given for the position he was taking. Remember as well it wasn't his arm below his body (which is really why the rule is drafted as it is - because its very hard to keep that out of the way) - but the one above. For mine, yes its a harsh call, but under the current handball rules, I think its a penalty every day of the week.

The VAR team obviously didn't buy the 2nd part of that however - but the biggest question is, was it a clear and obvious error on the part of the referee? They trot that line out every single time they need to defend not changing a call, but equally it should be challenged when they do change a call. I think one can mount a reasonable case of evidence to support the referees original decision - therefore, I can't see how it is ever so possibly a clear and obvious error in this case.

After all, one would argue in the Zaha challenge space earlier in the game, that is exactly what they did. One could see some fairly damning evidence to suggest that had it been called a penalty, they wouldn't have overturned it. Hence, one must assume they decided it wasn't a clear and obvious error on the part of the referee.

And we've seen how high the bar of evidence has to be at times - think the outrageous non penalty call on David Silva earlier in the season, when the guy (Accidentally albeit) stomped on his foot and took him out. Easy to understand how the referee missed it in real time, as clear and obvious an error as you'll see, yet they hid behind that to excuse not changing the decision. Its an outrageous 'get out' clause because they attempt at 'objectively' making decisions is still impacted hugely by subjectivity. A lot of that would go away imho if the referee on the pitch was made to look at the screen for any controversial decisions, and ultimately was the final decision maker, as it should be (Beyond blatantly obvious cases where its clear a completely wrong call has been made).

As others have said, they wouldn't turn that over at Klanfield if you ask me.

We are not part of the fabric that the press by and large crave for, the historical rivalry between Manure and Liverpool has waned in real terms and the press relevance largely depends on it being strong despite 30 years of it being largely non-existent.

Chelsea and Arsenal are just fillers and they don't like the new kid on the block taking the limelight so any news re City is usually negative or communicated with much less fanfare.

Here in OZ just about every defeat or unexpected result gets airplay on a mass scale but victories and thumping's hardly get a mention.

It might change in a generation or two when their is no other choice but to give us fair and objective coverage especially if its found in time the media had a corrupt influence on officialdom when it comes to City.

If our supporters trashed the Liverpool bus as they arrive to our patch you could be assured the hysteria in the media about it would be ten fold what it was when it happened to us and over hear their was hardly a ripple in its reporting and in fact the slant would be that we provoked them if were possible to report it that way.

There's no way that penalty decision is overturned for the home team at either Anfield or Old Trafford , that's 100% fact ..
We keep hearing VAR will only overturn a decision if it's clear and obvious error , well a penalty may have been harsh but we've seen plenty no worse than that given , Liverpool v Spurs in the champions league final , Utd v PSG , Danny Rose v us to name just a few ...seems to me the high bar they set for overturning decisions , is a flexible high bar , which seems to be raised higher and lower depending on the teams that are playing....
