Crystal Palace (N) | FA Cup Final | Post Match Thread

I honestly feel that the media hate towards us and officiating now go hand in hand.

We all know that the Palace keeper would of been sent off if this incident had occurred vs the rags or dippers.

It was unwatchable at times. It’s obvious the PIGMOB stooges at Stockley Park hear the commentary and know how things are spinning. Why else would Ratboy and Sheartwat argue black is white.

The first paragraph isn't correct and that isn't the law - it's the likelihood of keeping or gaining control of the ball.

Hence why players have been sent off for bringing down players running on to through balls etc. You don't have to have control of the ball.

It was a huge mistake. The fact that they’ve ‘omitted’ to show the footage on the highlights package shows it. The club should be asking for the audio and kicking up a bit of a stink. The BBC commentators had access to the VAR audio and Gillet said he was going too wide for it to be considered DOGSO. That was wrong and the only reason it went bit wider was because the keeper punched it. PIGMOL owe us a public apology

Story of the season wasn't it. Had all the possession, created a couple of decent chances but ultimately too passive and slow in the build up. We've got too many players who pass the ball from side to side and don't take enough chances. The wingers (especially Savinho) rightly getting some stick, but it's tough when you're 2 on 1 and getting a sideways ball to feet rather a ball in behind or a quick ball into feet with the chance to run 1 on 1 at the full back. We have to sign some creativity in midfield and some actual full backs this summer. It's a must. Feels like we've missed an opportunity for Frimpong tbh, like we did when the Dippers signed MacAllister. I hope that doesn't come back to haunt us.

It feels like the dynamic of the team has been ruined to fit in Haaland and Akanji. The false 9 system and Nunes and NOR at full back was working well for us, so why change it?
Thats Pep's way fluid forward line..for contractural reasons i imagine we have to play big Erl...so not suited to a Pep style. Interesting to read peps autobiography in years to come what he really thought of big erl's signing. Commercial first football 2nd i fear. We are so much better as a team when he's injured truth be told

It's too early to tell what the future holds. Pep deserves patience. Anyone who doesn't want to give him a chance next season is pathetic.
As far as I'm concerned, I do think that it would be pointless to get rid of Pep now, because he's still (albeit to a reduced extent, possibly) a big part of our USP, as far as potential new players are concerned.

Nevertheless, we're not talking about a low-confidence batsman who's had a string of low scores, where a poor split-second decision can cost his wicket.

A coach has time to consider his choices, tactics and substitutions - except maybe with a red card throwing a spanner into the works - and Pep has had an entire season where we would all have probably expected him to show a greater ability to adapt to what was happening?

This lack of any on-the-fly flexibility has been the single most disappointing factor for me, this season. Turgid inevitability, most of the time.

As I said above, my opinion is that he's still the one for us, but it's ridiculous to say that there's not a valid discussion to be had about his performance this season, or what we can reasonably expect going forward.

Who knows what effect a possible global humiliation at the CWC might have upon his mindset?

I got out my car to stretch my legs after being sat there for about 90 mins and there was a City coach about 200 - 300 metres further back and a load of them had got off and were singing City songs, which was a bit surreal but put a smile on my face.

There were also some people playing football on the other side of the M1 which was empty, while they waited for the traffic to be allowed to move again.

We were stuck there for 2 and a bit hours.
I think we were a bit further forward in the queue than you. We just saw people walking up and down, getting out of their cars to talk to each other, and bizarrely at one point a girl got out of her car, set her phone up on the road, and started filming herself doing a daft dance. Tiktok or social media nonsense, I presume.

We kept checking the National Highways website to see the expected reopening time and at last check it said around 2am! But not long after we saw that, an ambulance was escorted down the hard shoulder going the "wrong" way and all of a sudden the traffic started moving again a little later. It seemed the south bound side was still closed at that point.

Eventually got home just after 3am. Hope you had a safe journey blue.

I'm not going to lie, a sleep has taken the edge off. The price of success is you have to roll with the punches when you get to finals and lose them. Congratulations to Palace, we'll be back next year, I know it.
If I was a public figure I would definitely congratulate Palace but as I’m not they can go and fuck themselves, with their faux political banners, I am now so bitter I hate every other club, they hate us so that’s fine with me.

Had enough chances to win play the pen but when teams break so well and able to cross a ball to get a clear cut chance if we can't stop that it be the same again next season!
It doesn't help when all our defenders are on the half way line all the time.

It will fuck up recruitment badly. Now if our scouts were anyway adept at picking up future stars instead of spunking money on established ones who are mostly below the standard required you may have a point.
It's a wonder we've won anything given how useless people seem to think our club is.

Unfortunately I was thinking that on the 10 or so hour journey home. I didn't see the incident at the time (well I did, but didn't realise it was that the VAR was on for as the game was stopped at the other end of pitch). From my view it just looked like Erling took a ridiculously heavy touch.

I hated the fact we got Twatwell from the get-go with his history against us. The offside goal and now this are two of the worst and most costly decisions that have gone against us. You could tell he didn't want to give the pen either. Took an age to give it and think he was probably coerced into giving it by his earpiece. Then made Omar wait an eternity to take it for no apparent reason which felt like it was a calculated way to increase his levels of anxiety. Despise the guy.

Match Ticket £125 (3rd cheapest)
Coach Ticket £45
4 beers on Baker Street £30.70
Burger outside Wembley £10.50

Aside from everyone originally thinking that the FA Cup Final must be the week after next, and then the TV row over the kick off times.
Aside from Guardiola's self indulgence and a new interpretation of the handball law.
Aside from not having a clinical penalty taker since the days of Camelgob snapping at Mad Mario
Aside from all the poverty shaming meaning that City are ridiculed for only selling 34,000 tickets for our 31st appearance at the New Wembley.
Aside from all the in-house drunken aggression from Idiots who supposedly support the same team.

Aside from all that.
The real highlight is that City won't be in the Community Shield next August.

Considering that will be vs the dippers I take that as a bonus.

Life is too short to be that angry about football pal.
****************** City under Pep.
* Palace yesterday.

That’s trophies. Every now and then you get a club who has won nothing or very little and they spring a surprise. We’d have loved to have been like that if we hadn’t been taken over. They deserve their moment. We have moments, plural.

another poster in need of an optician or perhaps you are unacquainted with the concept of the keeper needing to protect his near post as well.
I’m on about as the cross had been hit he needed to start moving across to get back to the middle. It’s very quick but it’s what keepers work on all the time. He doesn’t move until Eze connects with the cross

The fundamental problem we've had all season is the lack of pace, stamina and energy in our midfield.

This means that if we play an open game at a decent tempo we concede good chances every time we lose the ball, as happened in that shocking run I'm November and December.

So we have to play the game at the pace of KDB and Bernardo, which is effectively walking pace.

This means that the opposition gets the chance to organise themselves into a secure deep block, every time we get the ball, packing their penalty area and making it almost impossible to break them down.

Guardiola has been wrestling with this issue all season, so I find it unfathomable that Gonzalez has been banished given he's the only midfielder with any legs.

I don't think there's much wrong with the rest of the team, though, and we should be pushing for the title next season.

I blame Haaland for that. He should have grown some bollocks and taken that penalty.
I actually think we play better without him.
That last sentence - did you say that after his first season, I wonder?

Watch some replays from that season again - especially before the world cup break, as we were learning to really exploit him - we just don't use him the same way now. The other teams can't believe their luck that we waste him the way that we do.

When posters here talk about other strikers, it's usually based upon their numbers, so why don't we give Haaland more credit for his?

We have huge issues on either flank. I cant believe some people cant see this. Doku should be 3rd choice, he can come on and impact games but flatters to decieve most of the time when starting. Savinho should be 4th choice at best, 2 goals in 44 games now. Where do you even start with that? As you say compared to some wingers of the past they are light years behind them!

Unfortunately, they are currently the starting first choice wide players and we are paying a heavy price for that!! Things need to change there
we used to play triangles with wingers and midfielders to create space now their doubled up on and everyone else stood watching.

A massive mistake selling Alvarez and relying solely on Haaland up front who is a good finisher but has the first touch of my nan
