Re: CSKA Moscow v City (Wednesday 23 October)

Regarding Visa applications for those who haven't yet sorted / selected which firm to use. We were recommended by others to use Travel Direct in Edinburgh. They provide the complete service, inclusive of invitation etc for £115 each. We haven't booked a hotel as we wont be in Moscow long enough (we need to check in from 04.00 the following day for our return flights), and were simply told to select any hotel name and add it to our application. We sent them Saturday by special delivery, I received a call from them on Tuesday to say they had received them safely, that there were not problems with the paperwork etc, and that we will receive them back 8th October (exactly 8 working days as they had advertised). If you have any problems filling them in, you can call them in office hours, and they will go through it step by step with you if need be. Not the cheapest service I know, but I cant fault them for their assistance and putting our minds at rest etc. www.travel-direct.com or tel 0131-226-8170 #prayforkhimki

Half way through my visa, trying to think of the countries ive visited in the last 10 years, also asks for dates so do these have to be accurate?

Just put on the countries where your passport has been stamped and the month.

You need invitation letter to apply for visa. The hotel/travel agency/company/person who gives you invitation is acting as your host providing the accommodation for you. You just put their name into visa application form.

Practically some travel agencies can provide you invitation letter without accommodation. You only pay for invitation letter fee. In this case you still need to put their company name into visa application form. And when you arrive Moscow you can go to other travel agency and pay money for them to register your visa. You can contact Russia travel agency from internet and pay money on-line for so called invitation letter but please note it normally take 3 - 10 days for invitation via internet. So it would be easier if you can find UK travel agency who you can leave your passport and they sort out visa for you.

Regarding visa register, If you stay in hotel, hotel can register your visa when you check in.

In any case, you don't have to register your visa if you stay less than 72 hours.

Please re-check from net, I am just a traveler been in Russia few times.

Use Travel Direct for the visa application - they give you the name of the sponsor and code - the woman on the phone told me the letter of introduction you will get is sufficient. Even if you only put Moscow on the application you are free to travel anywhere - even if the game gets moved

Not at all! I'd wondered if the same would apply to me, with approx many flights /countries watching club and country, told the woman at Travel Direct and she was fine (just made sure I put in Russia, Kazahkstan,Belarus etc because I'd had visas from previous visits there) - you will be fine with that
